✨✧ Beach BoysSmile Sessions Box Set (5CDs, 2LPs, 2 X 7 inch singles plus 60 page book) ... CD
Capitol, Mid 60s. Used 5CD,2LP,2x7Inch ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
My God – they finally did it! After all these years of hearing about the legendary Smile album from The Beach Boys – hearing snippets on other albums, studio bonus tracks, re-recordings, and all the other sources they've dangled in front of us for decades – Capitol's finally gone and done what they never did back in the 60s – released the whole legendary set together, as one package – and in formats that even exceed anything that might have been issued back in the day! You've probably heard a good number of the songs here before – some as they were chopped up and included on Smiley Smile, 20/20, and other post-Pet Sounds albums by the group – and in some recent re-recordings by Brian Wilson. But trust us, they all sound amazing here together – in the original recordings, with sublime 60s studio production, and godlike arrangements by the young Brian Wilson. Titles include "Our Prayer", "Gee", "My Only Sunshine/You Are", "Cabin Essence", "Wonderful", "Surf's Up", "Holidays", "Vege-Tables", "Good Vibrations", "Love To Say Dada", "Do You Like Worms", "Barnyard", and "I'm In Great Shape". Plus, this amazing box set has loads to blow your mind even more – a cool "storefront" shadow box cover that's unlike anything we've ever seen – with 5CDs that include the original album with 8 bonus tracks on the first disc – then four more CDs that include sublime studio variations that show the whole album in progress – the stuff that bootleggers have drooled over for years – and which, if you're like us, is still incredible, even in rough from – really better than most "finished" music of the time. Package also includes the 2LP vinyl version, 2 7" singles with pic sleeves, a poster, and a cool 60 page book, with notes on the music, sessionography, photos, and way more – a true celebration! CD

✨✧ Sandy SalisburyDo Unto Others ... CD
Sound City, Late 60s. Used ... Out Of Stock
A sweet batch of sunshine pop magic from Millenium voice Sandy Salisbury – essentially another Millenium project, but with Salisbury's voice and writing taking center stage! Do Unto Others is a set of groovy tunes recorded in 1969 for Gary Usher's Together Records – but most of which have never seen the light of day until this great CD! If you dig the Millenium records and other projects by members Curt Boettcher and Gary Usher, or simply like a groovy sunshine 60s pop tune you can't go wrong here. Sandy's vocals have the layered, resounding lovliness that you would expect, with driving accompaniment by Boettcher on acoustic guitar and backing vocals, Usher on moog, plus Lee Mallory on guitar and others. The best tunes meld the pedal steel sound the Byrds and the Burrito Brothers were also bringing into the rock idiom at the time. Standouts include a wonderful, Vegas-y cover of Brian Wilson's Smile-intended "On And On (She Goes)", "I Just Don't Know How To Say Goodbye", "Spell On Me", "The Good Ol' Times", "Cecily", "Baby Listen" and others. 15 tracks in all! CD
(Out of print.)
