✨✧ VariousStar Creature Vibes ... LP
Star Creature, 2020. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Stellar work from the Star Creature label – the Chicago imprint that seems to be picking up the torch where all those fancy London and European labels dropped it many years ago! The work here is fresh and forward-thinking – rooted in older house and funky soul modes, but completely contemporary – filled with rhythms that really find the way forward, instrumentation that soars to the heavens on waves of cosmic energy, and vocals that keep the whole thing nicely grounded on the planet! The quality is superb – and titles include "A Shooting Star" by Saucy Lady, "Tunnel Vision" by Proh Mic, "The Finest (E Live rmx)" by Kutkorners with Amalia, "Instant Sunshine" by Ourra & The Gravity Drive, "Do Me Like That (slight extension rmx)" by E Live with Chesta Blake, "Exoplanet Love" by Shrio Schwarz, and "Cassette Funk" by Giovanni Damico. Vision Of PanoramaFusion To Illusion ... LP
Star Creature, 2024. New Copy ... $18.99 22.99
Spacey keyboard cuts in a mighty nice style – set to upbeat rhythms with a nice sort of complexity – maybe as an extension of Chicago house modes from the glory days, but taken into some of the more diverse modes of the 21st Century! The tunes are nice and lean, and keyboard styles mix up 70s and 80s modes – not with as much of the jazzy soloing you might expect from the fusion in the title, but still with a vibe that references that mode. Everything here is the brainchild of Mikhail Khvasko – and titles include "Blue Water", "Piano Sunset", "Lost In Palms", "The Crossing", "Sensitive", and "Imagery". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Donnell Pitman & Wings Of SunshineBrand New Funk ... LP
Star Creature, 2024. New Copy ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Excellent work from longtime Chicago legend Donnell Pitman – a mix of recent tracks, but material that also seems to have a much longer vintage too – served up here with a bit of mystery that makes the music even that much more enjoyable! There's plenty of basslines and boogie grooves throughout – and the work has a quality that really goes back to Pitman's roots in the 80s, but with some of the leaner contemporary touches that also make the music a perfect fit for the Star Creature label too! Titles include "Get Next To You", "Need My Love (ext)", "Tonight", "Do You Wanna (ext)", "Summertime Girls", "Joog With Me (hi fi mix)", and "Chocolate Lover (e live mix)". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ E LiveCloud Vibes ... LP
Star Creature, 2022. New Copy 2LP ... Out Of Stock
A sweet little record that's bristling over with that future past sort of vibe that makes the Star Creature label so great – 80s electronic elements coming into play with a more contemporary sort of groove – lean, mean, and right on the money all the way through! E Live is definitely a master on the keys – able to bring some jazzier elements into his lines here – as he steps out strongly in a mostly instrumental setting over some bassy beats and heady basslines – on titles that include "Mood Swing", "I Feel It", "Friday Night Flight", "Cadillac Breeze", "Traffic Jam", "Stranger Dayz", "You Got Me", "City Girl", "Slapadelic", and "Wise Up Rise Up". ✨✧ E LiveSoft Approach ... LP
Star Creature, 2024. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Sweet lean grooves from Eli Hurwitz – sounding even jazzier than we remember, thanks to plenty of great keyboard work on the set! Yet the keyboards here have an 80s vibe – so that you're maybe in the territory of someone like Rodney Franklin or Ronnie Foster from the time – with E Live working all sorts of nice inflections into the tunes, while also dropping in the occasional vocal moment from time to time! But throughout it all, keyboards are the star attraction – on titles that include "Night Raid", "Desert Caravan", "Make Me Move", "North Star", "Bossa Banger", and "Soft Approach". ✨✧ LeonesVoyage ... LP
Star Creature, 2023. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Mighty nice work from Leones – an Italian duo, but one whose sound is a perfect fit for the Star Creature label – as they come across here with a really cosmic blend of drums and keyboards, often cut with plenty of jazz! The drums are live at most moments, which really opens up the flow of the music – and gives the whole thing a beating heart that's very different from more clubby material of this nature – a spontaneous groove that really has the keyboards stretching out with some solo moments, instead of just vamping along with the groove! The whole thing's nice and lean, and instrumental throughout – on titles that include "Dawn Of The Day", "The Fugitive", "Refresh & Smile", "Love The Sea You'll Be Free", "Last Sunset In The Savannah", and "The Running Gazelle". ✨✧ Brecker BrothersBrecker Brothers ... LP
Arista, 1975. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
The start of a legendary run from superjazz brothers Randy and Michael Brecker – trumpeter and tenorist, respectively – already players who'd worked on a hell of a lot of previous sessions, both as a pair and on their own – finally stepping here into some well-deserved fame in the spotlight! The duo have a great lineup here – equally well-skilled contemporaries who include Don Grolnick on keyboards, David Sanborn on alto, Harvey Mason on drums, and Will Lee on bass – all working in a mode that's soulful fusion throughout, with just a bit of vocals at a few points, but mostly instrumental overall. The whole thing's got an approach that's smooth and tight, but never in a slick way – a groove that still sits wonderfully well after all these years! Titles include "Sneakin Up Behind You", "Rocks", "Levitate", "Some Skunk Funk", "Sponge", "A Creature Of Many Faces", and "DBB". LP, Vinyl record album
