VariousTuff City Records 33 1/3 Anniversary Box – Original Old School Recordings 1982 to 1986 (5LP 180 gram vinyl – with bonus 7 inch single) ... LP
Tuff City, Early 80s. New Copy 5LP & 7 inch ... $62.99 64.99
The Tuff City label was one of our favorite indies on the New York old school hip hop scene – a company that was maybe a few years later than some of its contemporaries, but one that always kept a strong ear to the streets – and really helped find the sounds that pushed hip hop into the next level for years to come! This fantastic box is a great tribute to Tuff City at its start – as it features five vinyl EP releases that cull together some of the hippest tracks from these key years – along with a big booklet of notes, and even a bonus 7" single – all newly remastered, and done even more nicely than some of Tuff City's own vinyl reissued over the years. The package is great – an important introduction if you missed this music the first time around, and a really loving presentation even if you have some Tuff City in your collection – with some rarities that you might discover here for the first time ever.
