Brilliant! "Summer Madness" is one of those tunes that you could never hope to top – spare, moody, with incredible electronics, and a mad slow funk groove that's never sounded anything less than fresh in all its years! "Spirit Of The Boogie" is a tasty cut that virtually defines the boogie groove in funk – bass slapping its way through a midtempo pace, stepping high and large as the whole thing grooves along! 7-inch, Vinyl record
Lambert, Hendricks & Ross —
Doodlin/Spirit Feel ... 7-inch United Artists, Late 50s. Very Good (pic cover)...
Out Of Stock
A rare one from Lambert, Hendricks, & Ross! The single may well be the only recording they cut for United Artists – especially as no album ever came out by the group on UA – and it's a pretty great pair of numbers that ranks with the group's best work! "Doodlin" is the Horace Silver tune, and "Spirit Feel" is a Milt Jackson number – both with new lyrics by Jon Hendricks, and both done with a hard jazzy approach! 7-inch, Vinyl record
Garland Green's great remake of this classic! He sings it with a nice deep Chicago soul style, augmented by some of the slightly modern/southern style production of the Spring label. "You & I Go Good" is even better, though – a sweetly stepping number that follows in the spirit of Garland's Uni classics – crackling vocals sounding wonderful on the top, while an undeniable groove bubbles in the back! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(In a Spring sleeve with light pencil. Labels have some pen.)
