A split Motown single, featuring an artist on each side, and tracks that are definitely designed to cash in on the dancefloor cash! The Originals step out in a full disco mode with "Downtown To Love Town" – a swirling number that's filled with lots of strings, and which boogies on out here in a special extended disco mix! Tata Vega gets a special disco mix too – soaring on full arrangements for the title track of her Full Speed Ahead album! 12-inch, Vinyl record
(White label promo in a plain sleeve, with Tata Vega written in pen.)
The great first single from Kanye's Late Registration LP – with some very clever verses and a busy, exciting production! The track is built up from a sample of the classic John Barry/Shirley Bassey hit "Diamonds Are Forever" (thankfully Kanye didn't speed the vocal part into the chipmunk squeals this time), with some baroque touches in the sound. Kanye drops rhymes along the lines of his trademark style – readily reminiscing his humble, workaday origins as much as bragging and boasting about his late riches. His collaborators for this track, and the album, include little cousin Devo Springsteen (Devon Harris) and LA scenster/soundtrack composer/orch-pop troubadour Jon Brion! 12-inch, Vinyl record
