VariousDance Your Ass Off To Salsoul Remixes ... CD
Salsoul/Ultra, Late 70s/2013. New Copy Gatefold ... $9.99 14.98
The title borrows a slogan from the late 70s disco years at Salsoul Records – but the groove here is 21st Century all the way – thanks to a host of very contemporary-styled mixes that take older classics from the label, and infuse them with a modern dancefloor groove! Even back in the day, Salsoul had a great ear for key club talents who could expand on their strong blueprints for disco grooves – and here, they re-show that same strength, but in a completely different way! Titles include "I Got My Mind Made Up (DJ Dan rmx)" by Instant Funk, "Jingo (Federico Scavo rmx)" by Candido, "Doctor Love (White Noize rmx)" by First Choice, "Love Break (Stephane Luke rmx)" by Salsoul Orchestra, "I Never Knew" by Jessie Andrews, "Find Somebody (J Paul Ghetto rmx)" by Inner Life, "Hit & Run (Joe T Vannelli diva rmx)" by Loleatta Holloway, and "By The Way You Dance (Julien Jabre rmx)" by Bunny Sigler. Suss'd/Salsoul (UK), Late 70s/Early 80s. Used 2CDs ... $14.99
One of our favorite spots on the dancefloor – the place where disco and funk come together, making for a groove that's stronger than the sum of its parts! This collection is the second set of funk-based tracks from the legendary disco label Salsoul – and in some ways, it's even heavier than the first – overflowing with grooves we somehow overlooked, either because they're rare singles, or because they were lost amidst the bigger disco hits of the label. Whatever the case, the set's a great one – serving up a sweet blend of rare cuts, all packaged with the high level of quality we've come to expect from the Suss'd label! 2CD set features a total of 24 tracks in all – with titles that include "We Funk The Best" by BHY, "Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle (12 inch mix)" by Cream De Coco, "I'm Funkin You Tonight (12 inch mix)" by Bunny Sigler, "Dance Dance Dance (12 inch mix)" by Claudja Barry, "Bumper To Bumper (12" mix)" by Avenue B Boogie Band, "Shake It (12 inch mix)" by Cubby St Charles, "Showdown (12 inch mix)" by Martha High, "Let's Turn It Out (12" mix)" by Skyy, "Voyage Of No Return" by Silvetti, "Into The Milky Way (12" mix)" by Jimmy Briscoe & The Beavers, "Body To Body Boogie (12" mix)" by ORS, "Cosmic Dust (inst)" by Sharon Bailey, "Today" by Ripple, "She's Wrapped Too Tight (12" mix)" by Edwin Birdsong, "Dancing Into The Stars (12" mix)" by Logg, "Tale Of Three Cities" by Salsoul Orchestra, and "Mama Won't Papa Don't (12" mix)" by Loleatta Holloway.
