✨✧ Dave CousinsTwo Weeks Last Summer (with bonus tracks) ... CD
A&M/Esoteric (UK), 1972. New Copy ... $14.99
A gem of a record from Dave Cousins of Strawbs – a really compelling solo record that's got a very different vibe than his albums with that famous group! The tunes are maybe more introspective, but more electrified too – played by a small, shifting lineup that includes Roger Glover on bass and Rick Wakeman on keyboards – but in a mode that has both of those artists, and the others, really keeping things back – so that Cousins vocals are in the lead, and shaped around these unusual tunes that move past the standard Strawbs territory. There's plenty of acoustic elements, too – and a sound that's nicely out of time – on titles that include "The Actor", "Two Weeks Last Summer", "Blue Angel", "October To May", "We'll Meet Again Sometime", and "Ways & Means". CD also features bonus tracks – "See How They Run (1972 demo)", "I've Been My Own Worst Friend", "Rip Off Blues (1972 demo)", "The Actor (alternate)", and "Ways & Means (alternate)". CD
