LesimanHere & Now – Vol 2 (with bonus CD) ... LP
Schema (Italy), 1974. New Copy ... $21.99
Stunning work from Lesiman – easily one of the coolest, funkiest talents on the Italian sound library scene of the 70s! The groove here is electric, funky, and often slightly trippy – with perfect use of electric bass to get things going in so many different ways, depending on the mood of the track – as things step slowly underneath cascading piano lines, or move fast under these fuzzier keyboard bits, or act nice and skittish when the drums take on more power in the mix! There's often a nice degree of echo in the recordings – used to abstract familiar instruments, but never steer them of course too much – just create these amazing sounds that still leave us breathless after all these years. Both volumes of the set are amazing – and titles on volume 2 include "Plycar", "Permanenza", "Controcorrente", "Radura", "Stabilita", "Messaggio", "Confronto", "Ripresa", "Ciclo Interrotto", and "Cristalli". LP, Vinyl record album
( LP comes with bonus CD version of the full album.)

Armando SciasciaImpressions In Rhythm & Sound (200 gram pressing) (2016 Record Store Day Release) ... LP
Vedette/Roma (Australia), 1970. New Copy (reissue)... $25.99
Impressions in rhythm and sound from maestro Armando Sciascia – rhythms that are totally groovy and upbeat, and sounds that can be pretty trippy and out of this world! The album does a great job of mixing funky tracks with weirder ones – and the whole thing has a nicely psychedelic vibe overall – with very well-formed instrumentals that could stand strongly apart from their intended use as sound library samples for production – with a full feel that makes for a wonderful instrumental album overall! Also one of the warmer sets from Armando – who can sometimes be a bit more avant – with tracks that include "Macrocosmo", "Imponderabilita", "Circuito Chiuso", "Aciclico", "Cerotico", and "Il Mare Della Tranquillita". LP, Vinyl record album
(Limited edition 200 gram pressing!)

✨✧ African Head ChargeMy Life In A Hole In The Ground (with download) ... LP
On-U Sound (UK), 1981. New Copy (reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Seminal sounds from the On-U Sound label – and a record that perhaps provides one of the most lasting illustration of the label's genius! African Head Charge work in this unique blend of Jamaican dub, British post-punk electronics, and some earthier textures that might be more at home in Brian Eno's "fourth world" series – a masterful blend handled by producer Adrian Sherwood, who's still at the height of his power here – and works with percussion from Bonjo I, melodica from Doctor Pablo, saxes from Deadly Headly, and some nice echoey drums from Mus'come and AV Scott. Lizard provides the heavy bass – and cuts include "Elastic Dance", "Stone Charge", "Hole in the Roof", and "Crocodile Shoes". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes download.)
