✨✧ African Head ChargeReturn Of The Crocodile – Unreleased Tracks & Version Excursions 1981 to 1986 (with download) ... LP
On-U Sound (UK), Early 80s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Long-lost material from one of the coolest groups on the UK scene in the post-punk years – a wealth of unreleased tracks from the mighty African Head Charge – a group whose sound perfectly defined the legendary On-U Sound record label! The tunes are often quite spare and stripped-down – showcasing the core AHC sound of percussionist Bongo and studio wizard Adrian Sherwood – and his fantastic talent for creating analogue electronic madness alongside core organic, acoustic elements. Some of these tracks appeared in different versions on later albums, but these recordings are very raw and experimental – a real showcase for the On-U genius at its best! Titles include "More Bizarre", "Doctor Find", "Low Protein Snack", "Snake In The Goal", "Makola Market", and "Slippery Heel". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes bonus download!)

✨✧ Charlotte GainsbourgRest (with bonus CD) ... LP
Atlantic, 2017. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Fantastic sounds from Charlotte Gainsbourg – a singer we first fell in love with through her father, the famous Serge – but who we've really come to love tremendously over the years – both through her work on screen and in the studio! Charlotte's got this sense of presence that's unlike anyone else at all – on film she's a complete individual, and on record she's very much the same – even while also echoing everything that made both Serge and Jane Birkin so great back in the day! This set has Charlotte working with collaborator Sebastian on most tracks – often in a musical mode that has spare rhythms, bass, and keyboards in the background – almost befitting the slight 80s look of the cover, but never in any sort of easy retro mode at all. The approach is a personal reinvention of an earlier generation of French sounds – and titles include "Lying With You", "Kate", "Deadly Valentine", "Rest", "I'm A Lie", "Dans Vos Airs", and "Les Crocodiles" – as well as the song "Songbird In A Cage", which features guest work from Paul McCartney – and "Sylvia Says", which features lyrics by Sylvia Plath. ✨✧ LesimanHere & Now – Vol 2 (with bonus CD) ... LP
Schema (Italy), 1974. New Copy ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Stunning work from Lesiman – easily one of the coolest, funkiest talents on the Italian sound library scene of the 70s! The groove here is electric, funky, and often slightly trippy – with perfect use of electric bass to get things going in so many different ways, depending on the mood of the track – as things step slowly underneath cascading piano lines, or move fast under these fuzzier keyboard bits, or act nice and skittish when the drums take on more power in the mix! There's often a nice degree of echo in the recordings – used to abstract familiar instruments, but never steer them of course too much – just create these amazing sounds that still leave us breathless after all these years. Both volumes of the set are amazing – and titles on volume 2 include "Plycar", "Permanenza", "Controcorrente", "Radura", "Stabilita", "Messaggio", "Confronto", "Ripresa", "Ciclo Interrotto", and "Cristalli". LP, Vinyl record album
( LP comes with bonus CD version of the full album.)

✨✧ African Head ChargeMy Life In A Hole In The Ground (with download) ... LP
On-U Sound (UK), 1981. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Seminal sounds from the On-U Sound label – and a record that perhaps provides one of the most lasting illustration of the label's genius! African Head Charge work in this unique blend of Jamaican dub, British post-punk electronics, and some earthier textures that might be more at home in Brian Eno's "fourth world" series – a masterful blend handled by producer Adrian Sherwood, who's still at the height of his power here – and works with percussion from Bonjo I, melodica from Doctor Pablo, saxes from Deadly Headly, and some nice echoey drums from Mus'come and AV Scott. Lizard provides the heavy bass – and cuts include "Elastic Dance", "Stone Charge", "Hole in the Roof", and "Crocodile Shoes". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes download.)

✨✧ Blue In GreenBreak Of Dawn (with bonus track) (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Cold Busted, 2017. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Hip hop instrumentals from Japan's Blue In Green – a composer/producer with roots in bossa steeped jazz! He's a really fine job of blending the worlds of golden age of hip hip loving syncopated beats with really fresh and lively sounding jazzy piano and guitar and other elements from both worlds – from occasional scratch work to smoothed out jazzy horns. Pretty nice stuff! Includes "Rendezvous", "Voyage", "Rainy Streets", "Masquerade/The Night Watch", "Rocochet Bounce", "MOTP", "Blue Wind", "Take 3", "Get Back (To Soulful Music)"", Last Night's Dream" and the bonus track "Cemellia". ✨✧ Echo & The BunnymenIt's All Live Now (180 gram pressing – limited & numbered) ... LP
Rhino/Run Out Groove, Mid 80s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A fantastic side of Echo & The Bunnymen at the height of their powers – and material with a rawer edge than most of their studio work too! The sound here is mostly nice and stark – more post-punk than polished, because of the live setting – and a surprisingly great reminder of the way that Will Sergeants's stark, sharp guitar was as much a part of the group's sound as the vocals of Ian McCulloch! The record is full of surprises – and is maybe worth it alone for the group's fantastic remake of "She Cracked", an early tune by Jonathan Richman from the days when he was a pre-punk genius. Other tracks include versions of the Velvet Underground tracks "Heroin" and "Run Run Run", Tom Verlaine's "Friction", Bob Dylan's "It's All Over Now Baby Blue" and the Doors' "Soul Kitchen" – plus the originals "Crocodiles" and "Do It Clean". LP, Vinyl record album
(Individually numbered Run Out Groove pressing – a small number based on pre-release demand – quantities extremely limited!)
