CJ YoshizawaJapanese Groove Disc Guide A to Z (paperback) ... Book
Rittor (Japan), 2015. New Copy ... $24.99 38.99
One of the most essential discographies we've ever seen – mostly because we own almost none of the records in the book, which makes it an essential volume to use for digging in the crates! This time around, the folks at Rittor – who've given us other great record books over the years – turn their talents to the world of Japanese groove, particularly from the 70s and early 80s – a time when so many Japanese artists were picking up on the best styles in American soul, and using the music to come up with some great grooves of their own! The book is filled with hundreds of full color images of rare Japanese records by a variety of artists – soulful, funky, even a bit of fusion and AOR groove too – and each record is listed with a label and date of release, plus a lot more information in Japanese. Unlike other books of this nature, which focus on American or European artists, and feature information in alphabetic characters, this one has a lot more Japanese overall – but the covers and other English text are more than enough to point you in the right direction to dig – for hundreds of great records you never even knew existed! Think of reading the book as scrolling through pages of rare records online – or finding a catalog from a hip store overseas – as you'll see loads of things you'll end up digging for in years to come, all hand-picked by some of the coolest collectors in the world. 262 pages, softcover, full color. ✨✧ It's A Romance ProductionLovers Rock Record Guide – Romantic Reggae Selection 1970 to 1990 (paperback) ... Book
Rittor (Japan), 2022. New Copy Book ... Out Of Stock
Here's a book that will help you go way way past the hits of the lover's rock generation in reggae – a beautiful Japanese discography that's filled with all sorts of suggestions that will really help you start digging much deeper into the crates! The approach is similar to other Japanese books on jazz, funk, and soul – in that the volume is full of color images of record covers and label scans, most in full color – with artist, title, label, and dates in English – and other text in Japanese – plenty to understand even if you can't read the language in which the book was printed, and a very visual guide that will really expand your knowledge of the records! The book has chapters on key artists and labels – with hundreds of suggestions, both LP and 12" and 7" singles – and there's also a section that has suggestions by key collectors, and an especially great section on "hidden gems" – titles you might have overlooked otherwise. The book is softcover, almost 200 pages, mostly color, with images throughout – a very cool guide to the music! Book

✨✧ MuroMuro Presents King Of Diggin – Official Book ... Book
Rittor (Japan), 2023. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A very unique book on the Japanese crate-digging scene – one that has a strong focus on DJ Muro, the man who's given us countless great mixes and compilations over the years! The book is in Japanese, and begins with an initial interview with Muro, complete with lots of photos – but it then goes into a long section of "Diggin" chapters, with images and lists of key records by funk and soul artists, both American and Japanese. The format is different than Japanese disc guides, but still provides plenty of small images of cover art, and information on very cool records you might want to track down. Given how much greatness Muro has given us over the years, we can certainly trust his picks here – and there's enough visual information here to direct your digging, even if you can't read Japanese! (But special hint: you can always use Google translate on your phone to decode things.) Softcover book is almost 200 pages long, with a mix of black and white and color images. Book
