✨✧ Menahan Street BandThere's A New Day Coming/Tommy Don't ... 7-inch
Daptone/Dunham, 2019. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Sweet, slow rolling funky soul on one side and more uptempo groove on the other! "There's A Day Coming" was originally recorded to back the late great Charles Bradley, and it's got the right kind of tender guitar groove and gritty underbelly for that job, but it's nicely done by the band here on their own, especially after the organ kicks in. "Tommy Don't" has a more of uptempo old school R&B sound, with more horns in the mix. 7-inch, Vinyl record

PretendersJust Be Yourself/It's Everything About You That I Love ... 7-inch
Kent (UK), Late 70s. New Copy ... $9.99
A soaring modern soul tune from The Pretenders – not the famous Ohio Rock group, but an obscure soul act who do a wonderful job of harmonizing along with the groove! "Just Be Yourself" is an uptempo message cut that's totally great – in the more righteous side of the disco spectrum, with a heavenly vibe that's really wonderful! "It's Everything About You" is great, too – a strutting bassline at the core, and more powerful vocals rising to the skies with an upbeat, positive groove! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Ernest Ernie & The SinceritiesMy Eyes (Don't Believe What I'm Seeing)/She Won't Come Calling ... 7-inch
It's Soul Time, 2019. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Really great work from Ernest Ernie & The Sincerities – one of the few contemporary groups who can get a vintage soul style so right – so much so, the record easily blends with some of the rare reissues we've also loved on the It's Soul Time label! The production is great – almost a Motown-styled ear for the way that back-end rhythms and soaring strings can work in a subtle, but powerful blend behind Ernie's lead – and both cuts have a great sound that's way way a cut above many other folks trying to hit this territory of late! 7-inch, Vinyl record
