Production from RZA at the height of his skills. "Ice Cream" , features Ghost Face, Method Man, and Cappadonna and is one of the funnier hip hop "love songs" of the period – "I love you like I love my d*** size"?! "Incarcerated Scarfaces" is the more serious minded flip. 7-inch, Vinyl record

DJ Muggs Vs GZAGrandmasters ... CD
Angeles, 2005. Used ... $9.99
An enjoyable rugged-and-raw joint effort by the underappreciated GZA and producer DJ Muggs – which also serves as a mini Wu Tang reunion with appearances by Raekwon, RZA and Masta Killa, plus Sen Dogg & Prodigal Sunn. Muggs adapts a bit to the Wu Tang sound, which was a selfless and well thought plan of attack – providing a chilly and dramatic score for the GZA voice that works so well in that setting. Tracks include "Those That's Bout It", "Destruction Of A Guard" feat Raekwon, "Exploitation Of A Mistakes", "General Principles", "Advance Pawns" feat RZA, Raekwon & Sen Dog, "Queen's Gambit", "All Together Now" feat RZA, "Unstoppable Threats" feat Masta Killa & Prodigal Sunn, "Illusory Protection" and "Smothered Mate". Doom (MF Doom)Born Like This ... LP
Lex, 2009. New Copy 2LP ... $29.99 30.98
Doom is back, sans the MF prefix, fully loaded with funky sci fi hip hop that's fit to shake the heavens – his first record in far too long, and a strong one! We don't know where the masked man holed himself up in the couple years before this set, nor do we pay much attention to the rumors and gossip (he's locked up! he's sending out imposters!), but it doesn't matter, as he's come back sharp. We hear less Marvel Comics in the beats, and more spacey, blunt funk – particularly on the handful of tracks that have additional instrumentation by Mr Chop – with guests including Raekwon, Ghostface, Slug, Bumpy Knuckles, Posdnous & Prince Paul – plus additional production by Dilla, Madlib, and Jake One! There's some great stuff here, and whether the guy is truly certifiable or if it's all a put on, we love 'em either way. Stay close by, Doom! Titles include "Gazzilion Ear", "Ballskin", "Lightworks", "Batty Boyz", "Rap Ambush", "Stil Dope", "Microwave Mayo", "Supervillainz", "Bumpy's Message" and more. LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Ghostface KillahBulletproof Wallets ... LP
Epic/Get On Down, 2001. New Copy 2LP (reissue)... $25.99 28.98
Ghostface's follow up to Supreme Clientele – a tough predecessor to live up, no doubt about that – but Bulletproof Wallets is still a cut or 10 above some of the Wu work of the later 90s and early 00s! The single "Ghost Showers" is a straight up classic level track, and "Never Be The Same Again" with Raekwon and Carl Thomas is another killer cut – and all-in-all, this one holds up strong overall. Other titles include "Flowers" with Method Man & Superb, "Jealousy", "The Juks" feat Trife & Superb, "Walking Through Darkness" feat Takitha, "The Hilton", "Ice" and more. LP, Vinyl record album

Ghostface KillahFishscale ... CD
Def Jam, 2006. Used ... $1.99
Ghostface brings some real hip hop to latter day Def Jam – his best album since Supreme Clientele – and possibly '06 hip hop album of the year! Fishscale features appearances by the Wu Tang Clan & Theodore Unit, Ne-Yo, Megan Ward and others on the mic – but it's the stable of producers that helps make this one of the best above ground hip hop albums we've heard in a long time. MF Doom puts his Metal Fingerz behind the boards for a bunch of tracks, and the legendary Pete Rock handles a few – with additional work by J Dilla, Just Blaze, Lewis Parker and others. Ghost brings a literal lyrical focus to a number of the tracks – but he's still spraying words all over the damn place – and the best tracks are just as thrilling as his surreal word bombs of yore.Tracks include "Shakey Dog", "Kilo" feat Raekwon, the excellent Just Blaze-produced anthem "The Champ", "9 Milli Bros" feat Wu Tang Clan, "Beauty Jackson", "RAGU" feat Raekwon, "Be Easy" feat Trife, "Dogs of War" feat Raekwon & Theodore Unit, "Barbershop" and more. Ghostface KillahSupreme Clientele ... CD
Epic, 2000. Used ... $3.99
Ghostface's second full length – maybe the most worthwhile Wu solo project, and the best of all them since the first wave of the Wu. Ghost's flow is raw as hell, furious and re-energized, and so startlingly poetic that we were completely blown away on the first listen. The guests seem to feed off this huge energy boom, too, with Method Man and Cappadona getting their best verses in a while, and even RZA's misguided Bobby Digital persona kicks some raw dynamite. Also features appearances by Raekwon and Redman, plus a few tracks with beats by the RZA. Tracks include "Nutmeg", "Saturday Nite", "Apollo Kids", "The Grain", "Child's Play", "Malcolm", "Buck 50", and "Cherchez La Ghost". CD

Ghostface Killah & Adrian YoungeTwelve Reasons To Die 2 ... LP
Linear Labs, 2015. New Copy ... $21.99 24.98
A superior sequel to Ghostface Killah & Adrian Younge's Twelve Reasons To Die saga – cementing the mid teens Ghostface creative resurgence in a major way – with some of the finest production work by Younge to date! It's a stunning reminder of how sharp Ghostface can be this late in the game when he's really feeling it, and he's a gracious host here, too – collaborating with Raekwon on the mic throughout the record, even featuring some moody narration by RZA – and seriously impressive guest appearances by Scarab, Lyrics Born, Chino XL and Bilal. There's a real mythology to the project, with a loose, but genuinely compelling narrative arc – combining prime Wu school crime noir rhymes and soundtrack funk production inspired by giallo, Blacksploitation and Younge's own distinct genius. Includes "Powerful One", "Daily News", "Return Of The Savage" with Raekwon & RZA, ,"Death's Invitation" with Scarab, Lyrics Born and Chino XL, "King Of New York", "Let The Record Spin" and "Blackout" with Raekwon, "Resurrection Morning" with Raekwon and Bilal and "Life's A Rebirth" with RZA. J DillaJay Stay Paid ... LP
Nature Sounds, 2009. New Copy 2LP ... $18.99
An excellent full length set of beats & genius from J Dilla – put together by fellow beatmaker extraordinaire Pete Rock, with all Dilla beats – a surprising triumph! Call us jaded, but honestly, we weren't sure how deep the well could go of ready-to-go beats from Dilla, but this stuff is truly top shelf – nearly as strong as the instant classic Donuts from a few years back! Pete Rock crafts the set as if it's a radio show or mixtape, but his skill in so doing is well above and beyond the norm – neither Pete's interjections nor the guest rappers ever get in the way of the flow, it's as smooth as can be. Vocal guests include Ma Dukes (the album was made under Ma's auspices), plus Lil Fame & MOP, Black Thought, Frank Nitty of Frank N Dank, Doom, Illa J & Cue D, Blu, and others. Titles include "King", "I Told Yall", "Smoke" feat Blu, "CaDILLAc". "Fire Wood Drumstix" feat Doom, "Big Day", "24K Rap" feat Havoc of Mobb Deep & Raekwon, "Coming Back", "Mythsysizer" and more. 27 tracks in all, about an hour of unreleased Dilla! Masta KillaNo Said Date (CD with bonus DVD) ... CD
Nature Sounds, 2004. Used 2CD ... $8.99
The long, long overdue solo debut from the Wu's Masta Killa FINALLY came out in the spring of '04, 11 years after the MC first made his name on Enter The Wu Tang. Killa makes it a proud point to fully represent the Wu on the LP, which features some production by the RZA and appearances by the entire Wu Tang A-team (RZA, GZA, Raekwon, Ghostface, Method Man, Ol' Dirty Bastard, U-God and Inspectah Deck). The vocals were recorded over the previous half decade or so, when the ever more soap opera like relationships among Wu MC's weren't so strained. Other production booth knob twirlers for the set include Mathamatics, True Master and Dave West. It ain't a masterpiece, but at least it's a true Wu LP, and most of the tracks are a lot better than the sadly compromised numbers on Method Man's '04 Def Jam LP. "Grab The Microphone", "No Said Date", "Last Drink", "Love Spell", "Whatever", "Secret Rival", "Digi Warfare", "School", "Silverbacks" and more. CD comes with a bonus DVD. CD

Slick RickArt Of Storytelling ... CD
Def Jam, 1999. Used ... $4.99
To our ears, the best Slick Rick LP since his classic first LP from way back when. Nice laid back mid-tempo production throughout. "The Art of Storytelling" is right, with lots of the short stories he's known for. And the numerous guest appearances really work (including Raekwon, Nas, Canibus, Outcast) with the guest MC's adapting their style to Slick Rick's, rather than just doing they're usual material – even Snoop sounds dope on "Unify." As a bonus, there's three live tracks with Doug E. Fresh, including "The Show" and "La Di Da Di." Stand out tracks include "I Own America parts I and II", "Kill Niggaz", "Frozen" with Raekwon, "I Own America", "Why Why Why". CD
