Alright, here's a VERY solid full length from the magnificent beat-butchering Philly Mountain Brother DJ Chops – maybe the best producer-to-headliner LP we heard in '04! (OK, Kanye's is just as good, but lets face it, K doesn't really need our little plug now does he?) Consistency is what makes or breaks an LP like this, featuring dozens of guest vocalists (Talib Kweli, Baby Blak, Bahamadia, Raekwon
, Phil Da Agony, Planet Asia, Ras Kass, the above-mentioned Mr. West and many more) – and Virtuosity passes that test with flying colors. Chops does a great job cutting scratches and vocal samples with live instrumentation that he pretty much handles all by his lonesome – giving the record some really great blaxploitation touches, with all the deep bass and warm drums of our favorite soundtracks, the DR. Dre-derived pounding synth and strings thing, plus the soulful vibe of the Philly hip hop underground. "What's F**kin' Wit Us", "Trouble", "B-Girl Sessions", "Blockbuster Smash", "No Pressure", "Ni**erachi", "Tears", "War", "Changing Lanes", "As Live As It Gets" and lots more.
