✨✧ Cloud OneAtmosphere Strut ... LP
P&P, Late 70s. Very Good+ ... $11.99
One of the holy grails of the Spaced Out club music scene! Patrick Adams produced and arranged (and wrote and probably performed) this stunning set of spacey club grooves with a cool electronic feel, and a nice sense of mid to uptempo rhythms. Includes the classic "Atmospheric Strut", one of the moogiest tracks around, plus the classics "Spaced Out" and "Disco Juice". All cuts are great, though, and the album's also got a good soul sound that often gets overlooked, especially on the cut "Doin' It All Night Long". A great one, and on the rare P&P label! LP, Vinyl record album
(Early 00s Scorpio reissue. Cover has a name in pen on both sides and some notes in back. Labels have a name in pen.)
Also available Atmosphere Strut ... LP 11.99

✨✧ Livy EkemezieFriday Night ... LP
Linic Major/Odion Livingstone (UK), Early 80s. Sealed ... Just Sold Out!
A rare boogie set from the Nigerian scene – but one that also has the power to circle the globe with a universal sense of soul – as you might guess by the cosmopolitan look of Livy Ekemezie on the cover! The set's got a very strong tie to the grooves of the New York scene of the time – less straight disco or club than some of the more offbeat, bass-heavy rhythms that were coming from the streets into the downtown scene – handled here on basslines that are beautifully skittish, and change things up with a rough-edged funky energy that almost reminds us of the sound of P&P Records! The album's also got lots of great keyboards, which kind of bubble and sparkle next to the bass – but in ways that are often a bit different than more standard early 80s keyboard club. Livy sings most of the lead vocals, and titles include "Night Party", "Friday Night", "Classic Lover", "Holiday Actions", "Get It Down", and "Delectation". LP, Vinyl record album
(Blue vinyl pressing.)

GalaxyGalaxy ... LP
Taretone/Mondo Groove (Italy), 1981. New Copy (reissue)... $24.99 34.99
A funky soul record with a really great pedigree – tracks recorded by a Nigerian group, but done up in London with a vibe that's very much like some of the best east coast soul of the time! There's a style here that's not unlike some of the best club work of the P&P Records generation – a three-female vocal approach that's borrowed from the mainstream, but which is set to quirkier grooves that bubble and percolate in a really great way – boogie rhythms at many points, but peppered with cool keyboard parts that sometimes get a bit spacey – and which make the record a real underground groover in the best way possible! Titles include "Next To You", "Let Love Begin", "Heart To Heart", "Galaxy", and "Groove Machine". LP, Vinyl record album

Honey MachineHoney Machine ... LP
Grandstar/Mondo Groove (Italy), 1982. New Copy (reissue)... $24.99 34.99
A clubby classic from the Nigerian duo of Sega Gafatchi and Chris Ify Hanem – and a record that maybe feels a lot more like some of the coolest work from the US and Anglo scenes at the time – complete with all sorts of spacey keyboards that really give the album a distinctive sound! Most tracks are in a boogie-styled groove, and the keyboards are as much in place as the vocals – bubbling and peppering the tracks in a mighty nice way – not really the electro soul modes that was starting to show up a few years later, but more like the spaced out sound of the underground that you'd hear on labels like P&P and AVI. Titles include "Come Back To Me", "We Can Make It", "Dooby Dooby", "Free Like The Wind", "Shake Your Body", and "Pleasure". LP, Vinyl record album

RealityDisco Party (180 gram pressing – with bonus download) ... LP
Jazzman (UK), Mid 70s. New Copy (reissue)... $24.99 34.99
A rare gem of a record that's every bit as much a funk party as the disco celebration promised in the title – done with this lean, stripped-down vibe that often hits some of the same fast funk territory as late 70s gems from the P&P family of record labels! There's a nicely offbeat vibe going on here – a combo who clearly have chops from the funky 45 generation, picking up the pace a bit for the clubs, but also never going for a slavish pop disco style either – which means that the whole thing continues with a really great sort of edge, as congas in the rhythms come into play with lots of riffing guitar and some pretty massive basslines! All tracks are instrumental, which continues the funky 45 vibe of the set – and titles include "Let's Party People", "Movin & Groovin", "Road", "Reality", "Disco Party", "Clap & Hustle", and "Welcome". LP, Vinyl record album
(Individually numbered limited editon of 1500 – on heavyweight vinyl, in a tip-on sleeve and with download!)

RevelationLove Affairs ... LP
Tambourine Party (Netherlands), 1981. New Copy (reissue)... $29.99 39.99
A very soulful little group from the Nigerian scene – one who've got a sound that's as much American electro soul of the early 80s as it is some of the other West African music of the time! The group features really nice interplay between the vocals and the keyboards – the latter of which often have a stark quality that keeps things from ever sounding too slick or smooth – maybe more in the territory of east coast indie soul in the post-P&P Records years. Lyrics are in English throughout – and titles include "Dance To The Disco", "Love Affairs", "Feel The Music", "Your Love", "Promise", and "A Work Well Done". LP, Vinyl record album

Richie WeeksLove Magician Archives Vol 1 – Disco New York City 1978/1979 ... LP
Past Due, Late 70s. New Copy 3LP Gatefold ... $40.99 42.99
Never-heard music from the great Richie Weeks – an artist you might know for his work in New York dancefloor groups The Jammers and Weeks & Co – but who's heard here on cuts that represent his never-ending efforts to come up with great grooves in the studio! Much of this music was done in collaboration with Patrick Adams of P&P Records fame – and at some level, lots of the cuts have that nicely offbeat vibe that marks the best of P&P – a lean, mean style that's very different than the fuller sound of mainstream disco, and which really gets to the core of the groove! A few cuts have vocals from Tanyayette Willoughby, and one more features work from the great Leroy Burgess – on titles that include "I'll Keep You Up", "Just Cause I Don't Dance (voc mix)", "Love Magician (version 2)", "At The Disco", "I've Been There Before (version 2)", "Who Cares (version 4)", "How Many Times (version 4)", "Everyone Knows (version 3)", "Find That Disco Rhythm (version 2)", and "Just Cause I Don't Dance (version 2)". ✨✧ Kiki Gyan24 Hours In A Disco – 1978 to 1982 ... LP
Soundway (UK), Late 70s/Early 80s. Near Mint- 2LP ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Some of the funkiest, clubbiest work we've ever heard from the African scene of the 70s – great grooves that would be right at home on the New York dancefloors of the time! The style here is definitely drawn from disco, yet is a lot more funk-based too – more in the farther reaches of the disco underground of the late 70s – with some of the offbeat touches you might hear from some of the P&P family of labels. Basslines are often stronger than the beats – and although strings and other elements are sometimes used to sweeten the grooves – the approach is never too commercial, and never softens up the funky rhythms at the bottom. Kiki plays keyboards, sings a bit, and does a great job on production – working under his own name, and with some other key projects as well. Titles include "Disco Dancer", "24 Hours In A Disco", "Sexy Dancer", and "Keep On Dancing" by Kiki Gyan – plus "Loving You" and "Disco Train" by KG Band, and "Pretty Pretty Girls" by The Twins. LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the insert, and in great shape!)

✨✧ VariousAmerican Boogie Down – America's Lost Disco, Funk, & Boogie ... LP
Past Due, Late 70s/Early 80s. New Copy 2LP ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A massive batch of rare club tracks unearthed by Chicago's Past Due label, packaged together wonderfully as a document of a lost side of soul and disco! So far, Past Due's efforts have only surfaced as expensive 12" singles – so this collection is the first full length set to showcase the label's music – a treasure trove of under-discovered gems from the indie soul underground of the late 70s and early 80s! The music is to the far left of some of the better-known club work from the east coast of the time – including that of P&P Records – and most cuts here almost fall more in the upbeat funk mode than conventional disco grooves you'd find on bigger labels. Most numbers groove along in a wave of bumping bass, sweet keyboards, and other hip instrumental touches – and vocals are usually deep and soulful, much more so than in ordinary club. Titles include "Galaxy" by Visions Of Tomorrow, "Midnight Rhythm" by The Right Direction, "The Heat Is On" by Lonnie Givens, "Get Up Get Down & Let Your Body Pop" by Greyship Daviz, "Dance" by Destiny In Time Band, "Party" by Monofide, "Kiss You Everywhere" and "You Are Number One" by Devarne, "You Bring Out The Best In Me" by Destiny In Time, and "If You Like What We're Doing" by The Fabulous Kings. ✨✧ Salsoul OrchestraChristmas Jollies II ... LP
Salsoul, 1981. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A second set of Christmas Jollies from the legendary Salsoul Orchestra – working here with Patrick Adams this time around, in a groove that occasionally bears echoes of his own music on P&P Records! The vibe's nicely different from the first Jollies set – a different inflection of the Christmas disco mode, yet one that's still more than proud enough to bear the Salsoul name – thanks to sharp instrumentation throughout, and a way of laying down the grooves that's often as funky as it is clubby! The whole thing's great, and titles include "Joyful Spirit", "Deck The Halls", "Joy To The World", "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" plus "You're All I Want For Christmas" and the 8 minute long "Salsoul Christmas Suite". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has a cutout notch, light wear, and aging.)
