✨✧ VariousGet Down Boogie Sound – The Hidden Sound Of Black America ... CD
BGP (UK), Early 80s. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Great grooves from the post-disco years – music from the time when the sound of the clubs went back to the underground after the failure of the mainstream – and produced a lot of great music in the process! Most of the work here is in a mode that's come to be called boogie over the years – upbeat and funky soul, done with a style that's tighter than disco, and a lot less excessive too – with plenty of great basslines and simple rhythms at the bottom, sweet keyboards in the middle, and some mighty soaring vocals over the top! The package brings together obscure singles from the Fantasy, Posse, and Vanguard labels – and features some of the lesser-known acts who were recording for the companies at the time – turning out cuts that still sound mighty darn fresh all these years later. Titles include "Dance So Fine" by Nijel, "Get Up An Dance" by Mynk, "That's A Lady" by Shock, "Sweet Thing" by Convertion, "I Love Music" by JT, "Give It Up (extended mix)" by Sylvester, "Body Moves" by Rare Essence, "Project Funk" by Eazy, "Eletrophonic Phunk" by Shock, "Pastel" by Marlon McClain, and "Sureyoureright" by Steptoe.
