MonophonicsIn Your Brain ... LP
Ubiquity, 2012. New Copy 2LP (reissue)... $16.99 24.99
The Monophonics definitely have a way of getting inside your brain – using a cosmic slop of fuzzy guitars and funky basslines to eat away your grey matter more than a maggot inside your cranium! Yet even past that heavy Funkadelic reference, they've also got a richer vibe too – elements of 60s psych mixed in with their funk – particularly in the way that the younger generation's been re-digging crates from the early 70s these days – especially some of the more farther-flung tracks from the global underground. There's slight Afro elements at times, garagey bits at others, and even some well-timed rhythms that help the whole thing have a good sense of focus – and save it from the overindulgence that toppled the hippie generation before they even got started. Titles include "Mirage", "Bang Bang", "Temptation", "In Your Brain", "Sure Is Funky", "There's A Riot Going On", "Say You Love Me", "They Don't Understand", and "Thinking Black". ✨✧ FunkadelicStanding On The Verge – The Best Of Funkadelic ... LP
Westbound (UK), 1970s. New Copy 2LP ... Out Of Stock
A heavy best-of from Funkadelic – one that covers the full range of their classic sounds – from the trippy fuzz of the early days to the tighter funk of stardom years! The package has a power that's undeniable – a really massive batch of music that forever changed the face of funk – arguably the best that George Clinton ever had to offer, especially when you realize that Funkadelic was definitely the farthest-reaching of his many musical projects! Most cuts here are in shorter single versions – but there's a few LP-length jams – and titles include "Undisco Kidd", "Maggot Brain", "Cosmic Slop", "Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On", "Sexy Ways", "Better By The Pound", "One Nation Under A Groove (part 1)", "Whatever Makes My Baby Feel Good", "A Joyful Process", "Loose Booty", "I Wanna Know If It's Good To You", "I'll Bet You", "Red Hot Mama", "Comin Round The Mountain", and "I Got A Thing You Got A Thing Everybody Got A Thing". ✨✧ George Clinton & The P-Funk All StarsMake My Funk The P-Funk (180 gram violet vinyl) (2020 Record Store Day Release) ... LP
Trading Places (UK), Late 70s/1980s/Early 90s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
An obscure set of work from George Clinton and the P-Funk empire – a selection of live material from years when George wasn't hitting the studio as much, but still doing great concerts all around the globe! There's not much in the way of dates or players here, but if you caught a Clinton performance in the 80s or early 90s, you'll know the kind of groove going on here – classic P-Funk, maybe even more energized in a live setting – on titles that include "Ain't Nothin But A Jam Y'All", "Good Love", "Bop Gun", "Aquaboogie", "Flashlight", "Standing On The Verge", "Maggot Brain", and "State Of The Nation". LP, Vinyl record album
(Limited color vinyl pressing!)
