New Young DisciplesApparently Nothin' (Large Professor rap, orig, Large Professor voc, the re-rub, soul river mix, orig inst) – limited clear vinyl promo ... 12-inch 12-Inch
Talkin' Loud/Mercury, 1992. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The cut "Apparently Nothin" was one of the best-ever soul tracks to come out of the UK, and was a beautifully deep bit of jazzy funk from this short lived British combo. The great Carleen Anderson (daughter of Vicki and Bobby Byrd) is on vocals, and the production and writing of the track is superb. When it was issued in the US, Mercury stupidly included a Large Professor remix of it on the album, and although that version is on this 6-track promo 12" single, you'll also get the original mix, and the sublime "Soul River Mix"! 12-inch, Vinyl record
(Pressed on clear vinyl, in a stickered plastic sleeve.)

Dope enough to make us forget about his "Mad Scientist" days. On "Rhyme Mania 99" Extra P returns to his roots with an updated version of the old Main Source sound, complete with a nice staccato organ sample. "NY Confidential" features verses from Masta Ace over some mellow Mobb Deep style production. 12-inch, Vinyl record

NasIllmatic ... LP LP format
Columbia, 1994. Very Good- ... $13.99
The first album, with "Life's A Bitch", "One Love" and "It Ain't Hard To Tell" – what more do we need to say? How about beats by Primo, Pete Rock and Large Professor? Did this one get 5 mics from the Source? Didn't that count for something at the time? At any rate, despite the subsequent ups and downs of his career, and battles with Jay Z, amongst others, this album still stands as an all time high water mark for microphone technique and lyrical skills, with production to match. Also includes "NY State Of Mind", "The World Is Yours", "Halftime", "One Time 4 Your Mind", "Memory Lane" and "Represent". LP, Vinyl record album
(European pressing, including the insert.)

Columbia, 1994. Very Good+ ... $6.99
One of our favorite Nas tracks, and one of our favorite Large Pro productions. His second single after his part on Main Source's "Live At The Barbecue". Classic mid-tempo production by the Large Professor. 12-inch, Vinyl record
(White label promo, without track title on label.)

New B-1Cardinal Sins (radio, street, inst)/Life We Lead (radio, street, inst) ... 12-inch 12-Inch
Rawkus, 1998. Used (pic cover)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The second single from B-1. A little more hardcore than most Rawkus releases. "Cardinal Sins" has vocals and production from Kool G Rap. "Life We Lead" uses a nice sitar sample behind stream-of-conscious lyric that reminds us a little of "Broken Language". Both tracks mixed by Large Professor. 12-inch, Vinyl record

New Kool G Rap & DJ PoloWanted Dead Or Alive ... CD CD format
Cold Chillin, 1990. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A masterpiece from one of the greatest duos in late 80s/early 90s hip hop – the middle one of 3 LPs before Kool G Rap and DJ Polo split up, and the last one before G Rap decided to dive fully into the east coast gangsta persona. Benchmark production by Large Professor, Eric B, Biz Markie and G Rap keep the beats fresh, while the MC with the crisp lisp delivers the lyrical goods on classics like "Talk Like Sex", "Erase Racism", "Streets Of New York" and "Money In The Bank". Also includes "Bad To The Bone", "Play It Kool", "Death Wish and "Jive Talk". CD

New Mobb DeepJuvenile Hell ... CD CD format
4th & Broadway, 1993. Used ... Out Of Stock
Almost impossible to find promo pressing of the first Mobb Deep album on 4th & Broadway. While Havoc and Prodigy would go on to drop far greater LPs than this one, you can hear the seed of things to come on this first effort, and there's even a couple of cuts that get some help on production from Large Professor. 14 tracks, counting the interludes and so forth, including "Hit It From The Back", "Peer Pressure", "Project Hallways", "Flavor For The Non Believes","Me & My Crew", "Locked In Spofford" and "B*tch Ass N*gga". CD
(Out of print. Barcode has a cutout hole.)

New NasIllmatic XX (plus bonus CD) ... CD CD format
Columbia, 1994. New Copy 2CD ... Out Of Stock
20th anniversary edition of Nas's masterpiece Illmatic – which will probably stand forever as one of the greatest hip hop full lengths of its time – maybe even for all time. Nas has had some creative ups-and-downs over the years, but nothing can take away the impact of this damn near perfect slice of east coast street hop. Nasir, "World Is Yours", indeed. The original LP is pure greatness – 100% lean, masterful production by DJ Premier, Large Professor, Pete Rock and Q-Tip – and the titles include "NY State Of Mind", "Life's A B***h", "Half Time", "One Love", "Represent", "Memory Lane" and more. Illmatic XX also includes a bonus disc with 10 rare remixes, new artwork and a 24-page booklet, featuring liner notes by Sacha Jenkins, tributes and rare photos. CD

New John WilliamsPenelope ... LP LP format
MGM, Late 60s. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A groovy groovy soundtrack from Johnny Williams – scored for a goofy heist film starring Natalie Wood, and featuring a wonderful blend of jazzy, bossa, and harmony-styled tunes! The whole thing's extremely lively – and although Williams is working with a larger orchestra on most of the record, there's also some bouncing electric bass on the bottom of most cuts – and nice use of jazzy solo instruments. The title theme "Penelope" is sung in a sunshine harmony mode by The Pennypipers, a group assembled for the record – and other tracks include "Poolside", "The Girl In The Yellow Dress", "Girl Chase", "The Mad Professor", "Penny's Arcade", and "At The Art Museum". LP, Vinyl record album
