Large Professor1st Class ... CD
Matador, 2002. Used ... $6.99
It may not be the BeAllEndAll that the Matador hype machine is trying to cook up, but Large Professor's waaaay too long in the making first LP (first to be officially released, anyway) is a very solid effort, and a strong, raw head bumper all the way through. Nothing fancy, just tried and true hip hop, with a loud and clear, confident verbal flow and stable beats and samples. A welcome trip back to not so distant era of hip hop that the Professor first made his mark (Breaking Atoms, Illmatic, etc) without sounding self-consciously retro. Includes "'Bout That Time", " Kool", "Blaze Rhymes", "Stay Chisel" featuring Nas, "In The Sun" featuring Q Tip, "Born To Ball", "Alive In Stereo", and more. CD
(Punch through barcode & promotional stamp inside booklet.)

Kool G Rap & DJ PoloWanted Dead Or Alive ... CD
Cold Chillin, 1990. Used ... $14.99
A masterpiece from one of the greatest duos in late 80s/early 90s hip hop – the middle one of 3 LPs before Kool G Rap and DJ Polo split up, and the last one before G Rap decided to dive fully into the east coast gangsta persona. Benchmark production by Large Professor, Eric B, Biz Markie and G Rap keep the beats fresh, while the MC with the crisp lisp delivers the lyrical goods on classics like "Talk Like Sex", "Erase Racism", "Streets Of New York" and "Money In The Bank". Also includes "Bad To The Bone", "Play It Kool", "Death Wish and "Jive Talk". CD
(Out of print. Booklet and tray card have cutout holes.)

✨✧ NasIllmatic XX (180 gram vinyl – plus download with 10 bonus tracks) ... LP
Columbia, 1994. New Copy (reissue)... $19.99 24.98
20th anniversary edition of Nas's masterpiece Illmatic – which will probably stand forever as one of the greatest hip hop full lengths of its time – maybe even for all time. Nas has had some creative ups-and-downs over the years, but nothing can take away the impact of this damn near perfect slice of east coast street hop. Nasir, "World Is Yours", indeed. The original LP is all great – 100% lean, masterful production by DJ Premier, Large Professor, Pete Rock and Q-Tip – and the titles include "NY State Of Mind", "Life's A B***h", "Half Time", "One Love", "Memory Lane", "Represent" and more. Illmatic XX is on remastered 180 gram vinyl! LP, Vinyl record album
(20th anniversary edition – 180 gram remastered vinyl, and includes a download for the full album – plus 10 rare remixes, demos and freestyles.)

Ruffhouse, 1992. Fair (pic cover)... Just Sold Out!
The amazing first solo single from Nas, known as Nasty Nas back then, off the Zebra Head soundtrack. With classic production from Large Professor and verses that are as dope as anything on the Illmatic LP. 12-inch, Vinyl record
(Cover is in decent shape. Vinyl is worn and plays with some crackles.)

✨✧ KenJaNaiFaceless Heroes ... LP
Favorite (France), 2015. New Copy ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Crispy beats from Hugo LX – who you might know from previous work with The Funk League – or sets with Large Professor, Diamond D, and Gift Of Gab! This album's half instrumental, but never in a too-boring, head-noddy way – as there's some sweet keyboard lines that make for some slightly cosmic touches that push the record away from straight instrumental hip hop – and which really keep things interesting. The rhymes are nice too - and include work from Elzhi, Oddisee, and Amalia – on titles that include "Steamclock Heart", "Beyond The Black Horizon", "Faded", "Playin", "What You've Been Missing", "Some Other Stuff", and "Paris Is Killing Me". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Mad SkillzFrom Where??? ... LP
Big Beat/Atlantic, 1996. Used 2LP ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Overlooked genius from Madd Skillz! He's one of those MCs from the mid 90s (like Supernatural) who everyone was watching, did loads of mixtape appearances, put out something on a LP on a major label, and then just about disappeared. He deserved more! Tuere's some really dope tracks that let you know why everyone was paying attention – most notably "Nod Factor", and some nice tight mid 90s beats, including a couple of early pre-Ummah Jay Dee tracks, plus the Beatnuts, Large Professor, Buckwild and Shawn J Period. 16 tracks including "Doin' Time In Tha Cypha", "It's Going Down", "Extra Abstract Skills", "Move Ya Body" and more. LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has moderate ring & edge wear.)

✨✧ NasIllmatic ... CD
Columbia, 1994. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The first album, with "Life's A Bitch", "One Love" and "It Ain't Hard To Tell" – what more do we need to say? How about beats by Primo, Pete Rock and Large Professor? Did this one get 5 mics from the Source? Didn't that count for something at the time? At any rate, despite the subsequent ups and downs of his career, and battles with Jay Z, amongst others, this album still stands as an all time high water mark for microphone technique and lyrical skills, with production to match. Also includes "NY State Of Mind", "The World Is Yours", "Halftime", "One Time 4 Your Mind", "Memory Lane" and "Represent". CD
