Kill Rock Stars, 1991. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
The seminal album that launched the Kill Rock Stars label – put together in collaboration with the International Pop Underground Convention in 1991, and kind of a key bridge between the noise of the Seattle scene and the fresh wave of punk rock energy that was exploding at the time! Some of these acts have gone on to be the stuff of legend, some have faded in the shifting sands of time – but there's no doubt that the record is filled with crucial work – titles that include "You Speak Jealousy" by Unwound, "Feels Blind" by Bikini Kill, "Ever Since My Accident" by Melvins, "Red Dress" by Jad Fair, "Narrow" by Mecca Normal, "Beeswax" by Nirvana, "Girl Germs" by Bratmobile, "Don't Mix The Colors" by Courtney Love, "Everybody & Their Dog" by Fitz Of Depression, "Loch Ness" by Some Velvet Sidewalk, and "Immediate Impound Zone" by Infamous Menagerie. ✨✧ Elliott SmithElliott Smith (purple vinyl pressing) ... LP
Kill Rock Stars, 1995. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Elliot's Smith's second solo album and his first for Kill Rock Stars, a landmark for the label and Elliot's legacy – unintentionally kicking the doors open for a loner folk, melancholy acoustic movement in an indie rock era known for earsplitting noise at the time. It's more willfully intimate than what we'd lump in with what was being sold as "low fi" at the time, with material that really only needs Elliot's yearning voice, words and acoustic guitar to give us all we need. Lovely, heartbreaking stuff all the way. Includes the devastating "Needle In The Hay", "Clementine", "Christian Brothers", "Satellite", "Good To Go", "Alphabet Town", "Southern Belle", "St Ides Heaven" and "The Biggest Lie". Kill Rock Stars, Late 70s. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
Fantastic sounds from Kleenex/Liliput – one of the few early punk groups to come from Switzerland, and a female combo with energy to rival The Slits or Poison Girls at their best! The tunes here are short and sharp, and often have a biting quality in the lyrics – which are often in English, which helped to get these guys a bit more global exposure at the time! The set hones in in the group's amazing early recordings – cuts done under their original name of Kleenex, then soon after as Liliput – as they had to drop their previous name for legal reasons. 24 tracks in all – including "Madness", "1978", "Hitch Hike", "Eisinger Wind", "Thumlerdoll", "Wig Wam", "Krimi", "Beri Beri", "You", "U", "Nice", and "DC 10".
