✨✧ Maurice StarrSpacey Lady ... LP
Arista, 1983. Used ... Out Of Stock
A key bridge in soul scenes of the 80s – the second album from Maurice Starr, and a set that definitely points the way towards some of the sounds he'd influence later in the decade! There's still plenty of street electro in the mix – the sorts of grooves that Starr was forging as part of the Jonzun Crew – but the record also shows a deeper understanding of crossover soul, too – of the sort that Maurice would push more strongly with some of his younger groups! Starr handles all production, arrangements, and composition aspects of the record – and also plays a good deal of the instruments, too – which are heavy on expected keyboards and drum machine grooves – augmented by a bit of jazzy warmth from guests like Najee and Noel Pointer. Titles are all pretty catchy – some groovy crossover soul numbers – and tunes include "Can It Be Love", "Pretty Girl", "Spacey Lady", "My First True Love", "Electric Funky Drummer", and "Super Rock". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has a cut corner, ring & edge wear, and hype sticker.)
