One of Prince's biggest tunes ever – and a track that still sounds surprisingly great to our ears these days – funky, chunky, and completely catchy – with a hook that shouldn't go over so well, but really sends the tune home time and time again! "17 Days" is great too – a deeper, almost story-type cut that points the way towards some of Prince's music on albums to come – but still with all the fantastic groove of the Purple Rain era! If you ever needed the kind of cut to show you what Prince did that was so special, "17 Days" might be the one. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Here's one extension we can go for! "Sweetest Taboo" is one of Sade's greatest cuts ever – a lightly jazzy number with an infectious hook that sounds great rolling over and over again on this special 12" version! There's not much difference here than the original – but the whole thing's nice and long, really keeping the groove going! "You're Not The Man" is mellower, and a great little ballad – almost torch jazz at times, and sung beautifully by Sade! 12-inch, Vinyl record

Sure, the politics seem a bit silly now – but the track's still one of Prince's last really compelling hits. It's got a totally infectious hook, a spare Timmy Thomas-ish beat, and a strangely captivating vocal that really sticks with us! The flip's a bit silly – a 10 minute extended number with a silly jam kind of feel – but it's also a great testament to the freedom that Prince was allowed on his 12" singles – which makes them every bit as essential as his albums. 12-inch, Vinyl record

The hook's a great one, and although the single's probably more into the 80s rock side of the spectrum, it still holds up well over the years. "Six Days & One" is a darker, moodier number – but still quite nice. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Pete Rock lays down some dirty piano loop, heavy drum funk on this track – with this terse, violin and string loop on the hook that kinda bumps this thing like the Psycho soundtrack has gone hip hop! Dead Prez leaves the revolutionary politicin' on the floor for some dizzying thug paranoia, wack mack club observations and ghetto commentary – equating the club scene with a war zone. Amazingly, the track STILL somehow manages to hold water as a genuine club banger. A hot one – and a very promising teaser for the Soul Survivor II album! 12-inch, Vinyl record

A club crossover classic from The Rolling Stones – a track that surprisingly got the group onto the dancefloor in the late 70s, but which still held onto most of their best elements! Although sometimes panned as a cheap disco cash-in effort by some, the tune is actually pretty darn great – a gritty little tune that relies on heavy vamping, rolled-out guitar parts, and one of the catchiest vocal hooks that Mick Jagger had sung in years. Harmonica completes the sound, and the whole thing's got a bluesy undercurrent that's totally great! 12-inch, Vinyl record
