Act 1/Ivano FossatiIt's The Same Old Story/Night Of The Wolf ... 7-inch
Ace/Measured Mile (UK), Early 1970s. New Copy ... $11.99 14.99
Beautiful harmony soul from Act 1 – a group we totally love when they're in this mode – just grooving enough to open up the vocals a bit, stepping along with some great east coast sweet soul production! "Night Of The Wolf" is a completely different track, but equally groovy – a sharp funky instrumental with all sorts of fast-riffing guitar, taken from a rare Italian sound library album of the 70s – and topped with a cool whistle that almost has a spaghetti western vibe! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Aswads/Naturall BandI'm So Proud/There Was (with bonus zine) ... 7-inch
Clap City (UK), Early 70s. New Copy ... $16.99 23.99
A stunning bit of sweet soul from this very obscure Ohio group – done in a soaring harmony style that would have made the late 60s Impressions proud – but given this nicely stark backing and production that's maybe more in the New Jersey mode of the time! The Aswads are backed by the Naturall Band on the vocal cut – and the flipside is a searing take on the territory explored by James Brown in "There Was A Time" – moving nicely quick, and with all sorts of riffing guitar and electric piano! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Comes with a very cool tri-color zine, with the story of the group and lots of rare photos!)

HytonesYou Don't Even Know My Name/Good News ... 7-inch
Southern Artists/Kent (UK), 1965. New Copy (reissue)... $11.99 16.99
The Hytones have a really warm style of vocals here – harmony soul, but with a special sort of appeal that's hard to put our finger on – yet which comes through right from the minute you first hear the track – a perfect accompaniment to its very catchy groove! "Good News" is equally great – a super-snapping groove with an undercurrent of vibes – and an even more deep-soul styled set of vocals from the group! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Tobi LarkChallenge My Love/Sweep It Out In The Shed ... 7-inch
Topper/Ace (UK), 1966. New Copy ... $11.99 14.99
Two great cuts from 60s female soul singer Tobi Lark! "Challenge My Love" is a mid 60s Detroit groover from the hands of Dave Hamilton – nicely chugging beat underneath, sweet vocals by Tobi, and a bit of a brassy finish on the groove – all making for a nice midtempo dancer all around! "Sweep It Out" is a stone cooker from Tobi Lark – a romping Northern groove that has some weird harmony vocals shooby-doobing underneath Tobi's bold, raw lead – all on top of a rhythm that's completely infectious from the get-go! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Ponderosa Twins + OneBound/I Remember You ... 7-inch
Astroscope/Numero, Early 70s. New Copy (pic cover)... Out Of Stock
Two cuts of sweet soul by this band of minors who recorded for part of the All Platinum set of labels – with a raw harmony sound that was crafted in Ohio, but handled with a pure New Jersey early 70s sound! "Bound" is a ballad track, but one that's got this massive slow funk groove at the core – a famous sample that really makes the youthful vocals come across with a nicely hefty vibe! And "I Remember You" is an original, not the famous standard – more uptempo, and with more great vocals from the kids! 7-inch, Vinyl record
