Susan CadoganGirl Who Cried (colored vinyl pressing – with bonus CD) ... LP
Grover (UK), 2018. New Copy ... $22.99 24.99
A great return to form for one of the greatest female singers of the 70s reggae scene – the lovely Susan Cadogan, who works here in a format that really lets her hit all the right sort of vibes! Rhythms are full, but laidback – and Susan's voice is beautifully upfront, maybe a bit raspier than before – but with all of its heartbreaking charms fully intact, served up in a very classic style! Titles include "Crazy", "The Best Of Me", "Don't Know Why", "Lay Down Beside You", "Nine Million Bicycles", "The Girl Who Cried", "Truth Talkin", and "Don't Burn Your Bridges Behind You". LP, Vinyl record album
(Limited edition of 250 – on red vinyl and with bonus CD!)

✨✧ Tennors & FriendsReggae Girl (with bonus CD) ... LP
Trojan/Grover (UK), Late 60s. New Copy (reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A smoking slice of work from The Tennors – plus some great cuts by other "friends" on the Jamaican scene of the late 60s! The group really shine on their own singles, then step aside to let some other artists come in too – almost all with a similar mix of soul and rocksteady rhythms, and an especially key focus on the kind of growing vocal harmonies that were really helping change the face of Jamaican music at the time! Titles include "Reggae Girl", "Khaki", "The Stage", "Ride Your Donkey", "Gram Pa", "Cleopatra", and "Double Attack" by The Tennors – plus "Oh My Baby" and "Go Your Way" by The Harmonians, "Donkey Trot" by Clive's All Stars, "While I'm Walking" by Roman Stewart, "Parapinto" by Johnny More & Karl Bryan, "Copy Me Donkey" by Charlie Organire with Tommy McCook, "I'm Gonna Make It" by Cliff Smith, and "Puzzle" by Winston Wright. ✨✧ Tennors & FriendsAnother Scorcher (includes bonus CD) ... LP
Grover (UK), Late 60s. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A definite scorcher from The Tennors – a set that's overflowing with soulful harmonies from the rocksteady trio – and which also includes a few cuts by choice contemporaries as well! The rhythms here are in the best late 60s Kingston modes – plenty of pre-reggae soulful sounds from Jamaica, with some occasional ska-styled grooves as well – all with lean instrumentation that underscores the vocals nice, especially on the main cuts here! Titles include "Another Scorcher", "Massie Massa", "You're No Good", "Little Things", "V Rocket", and "Born To Be A Sufferer" by The Tennors – plus "Cool Hand Luke" by Jonny Moore & Karl Bryan, "A Little Bit Of This" by Eric Morris, "Donkey Skank" by Delroy Jones, and "Wonder Of Love" by The Inspirations. LP, Vinyl record album

Boogaloo Joe JonesWhat It Is ... LP
Prestige, Early 70s. New Copy (reissue)... $16.99
Killer funkiness from Boogaloo Joe Jones! Grover Washington Jr makes an incredible appearance here – sounding much harder and heavier than on some of his Kudu recordings – more of a gritty soul jazz player, working beautifully alongside the sharp guitar of Boogaloo Joe Jones, and the sweet organ of Sonny Phillips! The groove is lean, clean, and a bit laidback – not as frenetic as some of Jones' other jams, but in a great way that shows a new sense of space and timing in his groove! Other players include Bernard Purdie on drums and Jimmy Lewis on Fender bass – and titles include "Inside Job", "Fadin", "What It Is", and a nice cover of "Ain't No Sunshine". Amazing guitar work throughout – and a very tight batch of funky jazz! LP, Vinyl record album
