The kinds of beats we haven't heard from FreddieCruger in years – the kind of sharp-yet-spacey funk that first made us fall in love with his sound more than a decade ago! The music here has a very future-forward vibe – a title that's tongue-in-cheek, and which might obscure the quality of the performance here from musical partner Anthony Mills – who handles most of the performance while Freddie works the production side of the record. There's some warm jazzy currents in the mix – including some great Rhodes at times – and most cuts have vocals, in modes that vary between laidback and soulful, and more upfront and hip hop. Titles include "Slave Music", "Hot Sauce", "What Would", "Omunique", "Fly Is Now", and "Sh*t Is Tired". LP, Vinyl record album
It's been awhile since we've heard from Red Astaire (aka FreddieCruger), but it's definitely been worth the wait – as it's given him time to dig through his vaults, and come up with this second volume of rare recordings! Most of these cuts have never been issued before – and represent some of Freddie's better experiments with sources and styles that run the gamut from hip hop to reggae to classic soul. Titles include "Line Up", "Find A Way", "Saturday Love", "The Untouchables", "When U Need Me", "The Gong", and "They Don't Care". CD
