Funky and fantastic! This third volume in the legendary Blue Juice series is even madder than earlier volumes – and it features an incredible array of lost funky tracks that go way way beyond the usual straight jazz sound of some of the other Blue Note compilations! Dean Rudland compiled this one – and he picked super-choice bits from the catalogs of Liberty, Capitol, EMI, Blue Note, and related labels from the 60s and 70s. The shift of styles is wonderful, and the overall package of 23 tunes is always interesting, and always groovy! Titles include "Christo Redentor" by Ferrante
& Teicher, "Spinning Wheel" by Peggy Lee, "Afro Party" by Grant Green, "Funky Broadway" by Truman Thomas, "Madrid" by Collage, "Funky Whistler" by Bill Doggett, "Chuchy Frito Man" by Ray Terrace, "Do The Jake" by Victor Feldman, "Up & At It" by Cannonball Adderley, "Knock Out Drop" by Joe Frazier, "Theme De Yoyo" by Art Ensemble Of Chicago, "Collision In Black" by Blue Mitchell, and "Funky Beat" by Claude Ciari. Way more great stuff – including a few that you might have on other comps, but which sound great in the mad funky mix of this one!
