✨✧ Beginning Of The EndFishman (full length, 45 version)/Funky Nassau (full length) (2018 Record Store Day Release) ... 12-inch
Strut (UK), 1972. New Copy (pic cover, reissue)... $11.99
That's "Fishman", not fisherman – and the tune's a rare b-side from the insanely funky group Beginning Of The End – presented here in a never-issued full length take that runs for nearly 12 minutes in length! Given that Beginning Of The End usually only gave us shorter funk tracks, the longer format is a wonderful change – and totally worth all the vinyl space it takes up – especially when the flipside features the original 45 version of the tune, and a 5 minute full length version of the group's classic "Funky Nassau"! 12-inch, Vinyl record

BarrabasWild Safari/Woman ... 12-inch
RCA/Get On Down, 1972. New Copy (pic cover, reissue)... $12.99 14.98
A couple of the biggest, funkiest early 70s jams by legendary Spanish combo Barrabas – masters at a wild mix of funk, soul, and rock at this early point – with a raw, percussion heavy grit underneath soulful vocal and funky rhythms! "Wild Safari" works on a few different levels. Starting with steady, stripped down percussion, building with gritty lead and soul chant backing vocals before hitting the unforgettable, floor shaking chorus, then breaking down and doing it again – all the more thrilling on repeat! "Woman" ratchets up the funky guitar groove on the equally tremendous flipside. 12-inch, Vinyl record
(Really nicely done 12" by Get On Down – with a great picture sleeve!)

CotoneteInside Outside – First EP Series Vol 1 ... 12-inch
Heavenly Sweetness (France), 2017. New Copy ... $19.99
A jazzy instrumental with a very classic vibe – served up with some especially nice keyboard work from Florian Pellissier – who you might know from records issued under his own name! "Inside Outside" owes a fair bit to 70s funky jazz for inspiration – but it's also got a crackling sort of rhythm approach – played live, but maybe inherited a bit from the broken beat generation – which gives the music an urgently current vibe. Side one features the long core track of the tune – originally written by MPS legend Joanne Grauer – and side two features two Phil Asher/Restless Soul reworks. 12-inch, Vinyl record

A double dose of rare vintage late 70s funky dancefloor monster remixes by Marc Davis – going deep into the world of rare groove! "Free Blow" takes up the full A-Side and "Straight Forward (Non Stop) rolls non-stop on the other side – one a re-worked Italo disco jam the other a nod towards Chicago rare boogie. 12-inch, Vinyl record

DNATaste Of DNA EP ... 12-inch
American Clave/Superior Viaduct, 1981. New Copy (pic cover, reissue)... $13.99
An amazing record from one of the most legendary forces in the New York No Wave scene at the start of the 80s! At the time, DNA was one of the most uproarious acts in that increasingly legendary NYC scene – a group that featured Arto Lindsay's scratchy guitar and haggard banshee wail of a lead vocal presence, primitive Bowery funk keyboards by Robin Krutchfield, and thumping, metronomic bass and drums by Tim Wright and Ikue Mori. The band's songs rarely marched past the 2 1/2 minute mark or so – getting in-and-out for a quick catharsis – which means that this record is relatively short, but no less powerful – one of the boldest statements from that scene at the time – an extraordinarily concise musical vision that delivers more music in that short span that most sprawling double LPs! Titles include "New Fast", "5:30", "Blonde Red Head", "32123", "New New", and "Lying On The Sofa". 12-inch, Vinyl record
