✨✧ Kinsman DazzDazz ... LP
20th Century, 1979. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Kinsman Dazz are even funkier here than before – showing off their Ohio roots, and pointing the way towards the classic Dazz Band sound they'd forge in the 80s! Rhythms are very tight throughout – but still often touched with the jazzy elements that made the group so great in their early years – echoing a bit of an Earth Wind & Fire sound, as Philip Bailey's on board to help a bit with arrangements and background vocals. The whole thing's great – a super-tight record without any filler at all – and titles include "I Searched Around", "Love Design", "Keep On Rockin", "Can't Get Enough", "Dancin Free", and the wonderful "Catchin Up On Love", a spacey harmony track with a really anthemic sound! LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has light wear, some price sticker remnants, and a promo stamp and razor mark in back.)

✨✧ Dazz BandInvitation To Love ... LP
Motown, 1980. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A killer start to the 80s for the Dazz Band – with great tunes in a funky mode as well as more measured group soul numbers – and it all adds up one of their best albums ever! Tunes like the opener "Shake It", plus "Shake It Up" and "Magnetized" bring the funkier vibes – with a vamping guitar, thumping bass groove, punchy horns, and top notch vocals from the group – while tunes like the title track and "Beyond The Horizon" have a more soaring arrangement of horns and some strings, still with an impeccable core groove. It's not as smoothed out in the production booth as some of their later grooves of the 80s – a total gem! Other titles include " Skate Lovers", "Carry On", "Do It Again", "Do It Again", "Sooner Or Later" and "Beyond The Horizon". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has a some scrapes at the spine and is bent at the bottom left corner.)

✨✧ Dazz BandJukebox ... LP
Motown, 1984. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
The Dazz Band must have been on plenty of jukeboxes by this point in their career – hitting hard with that catchy, synth-heavy groove that marked most of their Motown years! The album's got all the catchy pop elements you might guess from the time – not as classically funky as the group in their roots, with lots of emphasis on the keyboards and guitar – that crossover Motown soul mode of the mid 80s. Titles include "So Much Love", "Dream Girl", "She's The One", "Heartbeat", "Let It All Blow", "Undercover Lover", and "Main Attraction". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has light wear.)

✨✧ BrickGood High ... LP
Bang, 1976. Very Good+ ... $14.99
A killer debut from Brick – the start of a massive run at the end of the 70s, a time when the group was easily one of the biggest acts to come out of the up-and-coming Atlanta scene! Like some other Atlanta acts of the time, Brick had a way of fusing older funky soul on a tighter modern groove – coming up with a sound that was nice and lean – perfect for these key transitional years of funk – with influences that were felt for years, in places as far away as the west coast! Case in point is the album's classic "Dazz" – one of those cuts that never gets old – nestled nicely in a lineup that also includes "Music Matic", "Here We Come", "Good High", "That's What It's All About", "Brick City", and "Sister Twister". LP, Vinyl record album
(US pressing with Masterfonics etch. Cover is bent just a bit at the spine.)

✨✧ DazzleDazzle ... LP
De-Lite, 1976. Sealed ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A disco dazzler from the glory days of the De-Lite Records scene – served up here by a group who really hit all the best sort of groove's you'd expect from that legendary imprint! The album's a disco record, sure – but it's also got the deeper roots that come from the De-Lite commitment to earlier 70s funk – co-produced and written by Leroy Burgess and Stan Lucas, both of whom sing on the record – and also get some help from some great female vocalists too! Although the cover makes the album look a bit like a throwaway set, the overall quality is very high, and quite soulful – thanks to strong work by Burgess and Patrick Adams, who also does a bit of arrangement – with that ear to the underground that he always had on his best records. Titles include "Reaching", "Slipped Disco", "It's Not The Same", "Walk Before You Run", and "All". LP, Vinyl record album
(Sealed reissue pressing.)

✨✧ Dave Grusin/Teddy RandazzoGirl From UNCLE ... LP
MGM, 1966. Very Good+ Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
One of the greatest spy soundtracks of the 60s – a very groovy batch of tracks written for Stefanie Powers' brief TV show, The Girl From UNCLE! The music here is better than the male version of the UNCLE franchise – hip 60s spy themes, done in a groovy style for the television audience – often a cool blend of swirling strings, jazzy orchestrations, and some very hip rhythms! Dave Grusin penned the music, and Teddy Randazzo arranged – bringing his 60s soul background into the work in a really great way – emphasizing the grooves even more than on other records of this nature, in a way that's made the set very sought after in the crate-digging scene. There's plenty of nice 60s elements – keyboards, wordless vocals, funky flute, and other hip effects – and titles include "Movin On", "Out Of The Frying Pan", "The Girl From UNCLE", "Sneaky Search", "The Countess", and "Bomb Scare". ✨✧ Little Anthony & The ImperialsBest Of Anthony & The Imperials Vol 2 ... LP
Veep, Mid 60s. Near Mint- ... $3.99
Anthony and crew were one of the few groups who actually got better when they moved from the raw indie scene to the slicker major label one – as you'll hear perfectly on this set of some of their best work for the Veep/DCP/United Artists label. Teddy Randazzo handled all the arrangements and production, and his breathy uptown style works perfectly with the band's soulful harmonies. 12 numbers in all, including "I'm Hypnotized", "Beautiful People", "Georgy Girl", "A Thousand Miles Away", "You Only Live Twice", "Goin' Out Of My Head", "Two People In The World", "A Prayer & A Jukebox", 'When You Wish Upon A Star", "You Better Take It Easy Baby" and "If I Remember To Forget". ✨✧ Jay-ZBlack Album ... LP
Roc-A-Fella, 2003. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
"This here is the victory lap," raps Hov midway through The Black Album, his supposed career-capper (for this stage, anyway), and if nothing here immediately dazzles us to the core the way the best of his past singles have done, overall this is probably the most consistent front-to-back listen of all his albums. One of the nicest things about the Black Album is the brevity. As tight as the best of his recent output has been over the last couple of years – from singles, to album tracks, to guest spots – Jay-Z's simply been TOO productive, which has diluted the overall power of his presence. That issue is addressed right off the bat here – with a very manageable 14 tracks, no guest rhymers, and a consistent overall sound and mood thanks in part to strong production by Kanye West, 9th Wonder, Neptunes, Timbaland, Eminem (who's baroque synth productions are getting dangerously close to going stale, but it fits Jay-Z's dramatic finale theme very well), Rick Rubin and DJ Quik. It's a wildly disparate cast behind the boards, but this thing flows incredibly well thanks to Jay-Z's predetermined mission to make a great album, not just a hot record. We may still have to lean towards Blueprint as his late masterpiece, but this is way up there. "December 4th", "What More Can I Say?", "Encore", "Change Clothes", "Dirt Off Your Shoulder", "Threat", "Moment Of Clarity", "99 Problems", "Justify My Thug", "Lucifer", "Allure", "My First Song", and a couple of brief interludes. ✨✧ SuicideAlan Vega/Martin Rev ... LP
Ze (UK), 1980. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A second album of sorts from Suicide – but one that came out a long four years after their seminal debut, at a time when all of the groups that Suicide had influenced had grown up on their own to fill up the underground! Yet the duo of Martin Rev and Alan Vega are still way ahead of the pack here – and even production by Ric Ocasek can't smooth their edges or dampen their madness, or bog them down in any sort of new wave cliches! Instead, it just feels like they've upgraded their electronics a bit, and maybe put a slight bit of care into the recording of Vega's vocals – without messing with the mix too much. Titles include "Harlem", "Be Bop Kid", "Diamonds Fur Coat Champagne", "Fast Money Music", "Sweetheart", "Mr Ray", and "Shadazz". LP, Vinyl record album
(US Antilles promo pressing. Cover has faint ring wear, a tiny bit of staining on the top seam, and a small sticker.)

✨✧ Little Anthony & The ImperialsOn A New Street ... LP
Avco, 1973. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Wonderful work from Little Anthony – and a great update to his smooth 60s harmony sound with The Imperials! Anthony wisely employs the use of two of 70s top harmony arrangers on the album – using Thom Bell on one side, and Teddy Randazzo on the other – both of whom really help take the group to a whole new level! The Thom Bell material fits perfectly with his work with The Stylistics from the same time, and the cuts have a wonderfully mellow east coast harmony style that's quite different than Anthony's earlier work. Teddy Randazzo does a pretty nice job, too – but with a fuller sound too, almost in a Manhattans mode that makes for a nice change from the previous fragility of Anthony's vocals. Titles include "I Don't Have Time To Worry", "That's What Love is All About", "I'm Falling In Love with You", "Heartache Never Entered My Mind", and "The Loneliest House on the Block". LP, Vinyl record album
