✨✧ David Liebman & Richie BeirachDavid Liebman & Richie Beirach – Mosaic Select (Lookout Farm/Duo/Quest) ... CD
Mosaic, 1976/1988/1990/1991. Used 3CD ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Strong slices of work from the decade-spanning career of saxophonist David Liebeman and keyboardist Richie Beirach – recorded live at an early date at the Keystone Korner in 1976, and later on a range of global dates from the end of the 80s! Liebman and Beirach have a well-honed sound that benefits strongly from Dave's angular approach to reeds, especially soprano sax, and Richie's warmly crafted lines on the keys – always great on acoustic piano, but even nicer here on the few tracks that feature Fender Rhodes! About half the 3CD package is from 1976 – and features Liebman and Beirach with Frank Tusa on bass, Jeff Williams on drums, and Todd Barkan on percussion – on tracks that include "Lookout Farm", "The Iguana's Ritual", "Fireflies", "Pablo's Story", and "Night In Tunisia" – all longer numbers that run for well over ten minutes each. The second half features live dates from Germany, New York, and Tokyo – a few with just Liebman and Beirach in duo format, others with Ron McClure on bass and Billy Hart on drums. Titles include "Pendulum", "Elm", "Pablo's Story", and "Invocation". CD
(Out of print. Numbered, limited edition. Includes original slipcase and booklet.)
