✨✧ BeanfieldClose To You (Maurice Fulton rmx, Beanfield acoustic vers)/Tides (Chateau Flight rmx, beats, voice, string & pads) ... 12-inch
Compost (Germany), 2004. Very Good+ (pic cover)... Out Of Stock
"Close To You" is one of the most soulful tunes we've ever heard from Beanfield – a great little groover that's mixed here by Maurice Felton with some skipped-up beats that sound mighty nice! The "acoustic" mix actually has a sweet bit of electric keys – all washing around in the background, and providing a nice sonic foil to the tune's sweet guitar! The flip features some spacey, spooky remix work by Chateau Flight – of another soulful tune, "Tides"! 12-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Elsie Bianchi TrioElsie Bianchi Trio – At Chateau Fleur De Lys ... CD
Sonorama (Germany), 1968. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A really unusual slice of work from pianist Elsie Bianchi – not just because the tracks here have never been heard before, but also because they feature Elsie playing some Hammond, in addition to her usual piano – and the recording was also made in Atlanta, and not some of the European locales that Bianchi normally played! The tunes are often in a soulfully swinging vibe – so that even when they're numbers from an older generation, they get a cool small club combo treatment – very late 60s, with Elsie at the keys, Peter Brunner on drums – and Siro Bianchi on both bass, and some great tenor and flute! When Elsie plays the organ, she handles the bass – so Siro steps in on those tunes with very groovy work on reeds – and as usual for Bianchi, she also sings a bit too – although a good part of the set is instrumental. The material here was recorded in a Georgia nightclub in 1968, and the tapes sat in storage for years – but this late side of Bianchi's 60s career really comes to light strongly – on titles that include "Canalla", "Take Five", "Now's The Time", "Swingin Shepherd Blues", "Things Ain't What They Used To Be", and "Alice In Wonderland". OsunladePyrography (heavyweight vinyl – with hardcover book) ... LP
BBE (UK), 2017. New Copy 2LP ... $29.99 60.00
Osunlade's always had a sound that's deep, but this time around his entire approach seems even deeper than ever – maybe because this lavish package is as much a visual treat as it is an audio one! The set's as much of a book as it is a record – a heavy, hardcover package that has beautiful images on each page, writings too – all in tribute to the Orishas who've become a continuing inspiration for Osunlade – and helped move his music away from just simple dancefloor fare! And yet the tracks groove nicely, too – all in that deepest of house modes that the man's been giving us for many years – woven from strands of different cultural inspiration, and given a contemporary soulful spin – mostly from Osunlade himself on live drums, moog, Fender Rhodes, theremin, and other instrumentation – as well as vocals, and some guest help from Gabriele Poso, Oveous Maximus, Chateau Flight, and Tanya Blount. Titles include "No Way", "Pheramones", "Ser Al Santismo", "A Day Without", "Yeku Yeku", "Man O Wirdz", "Trinity Ov Me", "Idiosyncracy", and "Walkin In Paris". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ John Barry/Tom JonesThunderball ... LP
United Artists, 1965. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
One of the greatest of Barry's scores for the James Bond films – early enough to be raw, but confident enough to change up the mood nicely! The theme song features vocals by Tom Jones – and the rest of the tunes almost reads as a who's who of hipster influences, as so many of them have been taken up by other artists as band or album names. Titles include "Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang", "Thunderball", "The Bomb", "Chateau Flight", "Bond Below Disco Volante", "Death Of Fiona", and "Switching The Body". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ VariousSourcelabs – Classiques De 1995 A 2002 ... CD
Astralwerks, Mid 90s-Early 2000s. Used 2 CDs ... Out Of Stock
A fitting tribute to one of the greatest series of recent French music – the groundbreaking Sourcelab compilations! The series was crucial in documenting the emerging sound of French funk, trip hop, and abstract beats in the mid to late 90s – pulling together work by diverse artists, and acting as a showcase for Parisian grooves that might have gotten missed otherwise. This 2CD set presents 16 tracks from the series' 3 volumes – including "Mandrake" by Alex Gopher, "Espece Funk" by DJ Gilbr, "Ecouter Fumer" by La Chatte Rouge, "Bad Vibes" by Motor Bass, "Nuphunk" by Daphreephunkateerz, "Musique (long version)" by Daft Punk, "Hunt One Connection" by Main Basse Sur La Ville, "Paris Acid City" by Black Strobe, "Mondorama" by Chateau Flight, and "Post It" by Scratch Pet Land. ✨✧ Don Cherry's New ResearchesOrganic Music Theatre Festival De Chateauvallon 1972 ... LP
INA/Blank Forms, 1972. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
An incredible performance from the great Don Cherry – one that's maybe the most perfect summation we've ever heard of his ability to embrace a globe's worth of influences and make them his own! The set was recorded live at a French jazz festival in 1972, and it has a very compelling group known as the New Researches Ensemble – a lineup that includes Nana Vasconcelos on percussion and berimbau, Christer Bothen on ngoni and piano, Dodou Gouirand on soprano and alto, and Moki Cherry on tanpura – all working in a larger stage setting designed by Moki, with puppet theater as well! The most striking thing might well be the vocals – much more prominent here than on other Cherry recordings, and very soulful as well – blended with jazz expressions and global instrumentation, with a vibe that's almost like some of the best work on the Saravah label during the period. The whole thing's fantastic – a great lost chapter of a musician whose well never seems to run dry – with titles that include "Resa", "Butterfly Friend", "Elixir", "Amazwe", "Witchi Tai To", "Ganesh", "North Brazilian Ceremonial Hymn", and "Dha Dhin Na Dha Tin Na". ✨✧ Dexter GordonLive In Chateauvallon 1978 ... CD
Elemental, 1978. New Copy 2CD ... Out Of Stock
A great live set from Dexter Gordon – done overseas, but in a way that's different than the concert recordings that dominated most of his late 60s/early 70s output! This set was done at a time when Dex had returned to the US, and was cutting some tremendous late records for Columbia – and Gordon blows tenor here, plus a bit of soprano, with a wonderfully well-matched group that features George Cables on piano, Rufus Reid on bass, and Eddie Gladden on drums! The vibe is great, and although Gordon explores similar territory to some of his previous concert dates, there's also a very special spirit going on too – a difference that is subtle, but very distinct. Titles include very long takes of "Strollin", "Tangerine", "More Than You Know", and "Gingerbread Boy" – plus a shorter "Long Tall Dexter". CD
