10/30 Uproar, 1996. Sealed ... $19.99
Since the day this single came out, it's been a favorite for MC's to freestyle over – with just a simple drum line combined with a killer, killer koto sample, a big beat precursor to the Asian string fetish Timbaland and others used a full seven years later! 12-inch, Vinyl record

Spoonie GeeTake It Off (voc, inst)/That's My Style/I'll Serve You Right ... 12-inch
Tuff City, 1986. Very Good- ... $2.99
While most of the true hip hop pioneers had fallen off by this time, Spoonie G actually did some of his best material in the mid-80's. The cut here is "Take It Off" – it's straight big beat hip hop, but with lots of cowbell-type percussion that gives a bit of go-go feel in parts. 12-inch, Vinyl record
(In a Tuf sleeve. Label has a streak of marker.)

One of Guy's first big hits, and proof that Teddy was setting his crossover sights on the right target! The extended mix shows the way that Riley was determined to get R&B back onto the dancefloor in a big way – and the bonus beats are nice too! 12-inch, Vinyl record

Teacher Haters/Unknown Female Soul SingersBig Pig Alley/Cut Loose/We Got A Thing/Guys Today (180 gram pressing) ... 12-inch
Preservation Project, Late 60s. New Copy (pic cover, reissue)... $11.99
A sweet 12" single from the limited Preservation Project series! Side one begins with The Teacher Haters – unreleased material by a 60s group that have a very soulful take on the party rock style – really mixing together garagey elements and bluesy inspirations – a bit like some of the cooler Texas combos of the time! "Big Big Polly" has vocals that are more offbeat vocalizations alongside the chorus – with this romping groove that's mighty nice – and the wild singer in the band continues his thing on "Cut Loose", while the rest of the group hold more towards a romping groovy lyric! Side two features two cuts by unknown female soul singers – both pretty great! "We Got A Thing" has this fantastic intro that's maybe worth the price of admission – setting a rising tone for the tune that the vocals really strive to match! "Guys Today" is a bit longer than the usual soul single – and has this great late nite vibe, but with a looser feel than the usual 45! 12-inch, Vinyl record

One of the biggest classics from Sharon Redd's early 80s run on Prelude Records – a beat-heavy tune that's also got some sweet electric touches! (Promo. Label has some marker and a small sticker.)

TK, 1979. Very Good+ ... $1.99
What can we say? "Ring My Bell" was one of the biggest crossover disco tracks of the late 70s – with a cool electronic groove on the beat, and lyrics and production by Frederick Knight, making the southern soul singer one of the more unlikely disco forces of the time. This 12" single features the full 8 minute version – with the "Midnight Mix" by Richie Rivera. 12-inch, Vinyl record
