The title says "rock n roll", but the music is mostly soul and R&B – all recorded for the legendary Roulette Records at the end of the 50s, and featuring a fair bit of obscure singles showing up here on reissue for the first time! The package is surprisingly great, considering the simple cover image – and there's a fair bit of great musical surprises in the lineup – including some tracks that help Roulette stand strongly next to Atlantic and King Records as a home to some hard-wailing R&B and sweet doo wop harmonies! Titles include "The Drag" and "Everybody's Gonna Rock" by The Isley Brothers, "The Whammy" and "Strange" by Screamin Jay Hawkins, "7-11" by Gone All Stars, "Screamin Ball" by The Duponts, "Hippy Dippy Daddy" by The Cookies, "Roll Over Beethoven
" by The 4 Chaps, "Hindu Baby" by The Emanons, "Dance With Me" by The Chaperones, "Alabama Rock & Roll" by Mabel King, "The Woo Woo Train" by The Valentines, and 4 previously unissued tracks by Wynonie Harris – including "Did You Get The Message", "Josephine", "Spread The News", and "Saturday Night".
