✨✧ Armando TrovajoliCome Quando Perche – Colonna Sonora Originale Del Film ... CD
GDM (Italy), 1969. Used ... Just Sold Out!
A sweetly slow-building soundtrack from maestro Armando Trovajoli – filled with water strings, light woodwinds, and some really dreamy sounds! The set's not as all-out groove oriented as some of Trovajoli's other late 60s work, but it more than makes up for that with a spacious sensibility that has the instrumentation kind of floating in the air – hung from clouds with tiny little threads, just blowing along in the breeze with an almost effortless sort of quality! The tunes flow nicely one into the other – with no grand themes, save for a few slightly more grooving moments – and Edda Dell'Orso manages to sneak in a few light vocal performances – but again, in a relatively spare and subtle way. Titles include "Come Quando Perche", "Presa Nella Rete", "Paula", "Onde Sulla Riva", "Una Notte Particolare", and "Disperazione Di Un Ricordo". CD

✨✧ Armando TrovajoliI Lunchi Giorni Della Vendetta ... CD
GDM (Italy), 1966. Used ... Just Sold Out!
An excellent spaghetti western soundtrack by Italian composer Armando Trovajoli – for a film that's a bit lesser-known, but with music that's totally wonderful! The main theme may be recognizable for its recent use in Kill Bill, but the whole set's sparkling with surprises – and this great reissue features a total of 31 tracks, which includes a lot of bonus bits that take the CD way past the original album! Titles include "I Lunghi Giorni Della Vendetta", "Sole Alto", "L'Attesa", "La Prateria", "Ombre Al Tramonto", "Rabbia E Amore", and "Muori O Vivi". CD

Clarke Boland Big BandJazz In The Movies – More Jazz (Japanese pressing) ... CD
CAM (Italy), 1968. Used ... $19.99
A rare treat from the legendary Clarke-Boland Big Band – a sublime set of Italian soundtrack numbers first recorded in 1968! The set was cut at the height of the Italian soundtrack golden age, in Italy, where the group had been working and recording heavily – making for a perfect fit of styles: the sweet and groovy compositions of talents like Nino Rota, Armando Trovajoli, Piero Piccioni, and others, handled with the fire and energy that had become the trademark of the Clarke-Boland ensemble! The set grooves very nicely – with hard-swinging versions of tracks that include "More", "Seven Golden Men", "Your Smile", "Saxology", "La Hora De La Verdad", "Canto D'Amore", and "Questi Vent Anni Miei". CD
(1993 Japanese pressing.)

✨✧ Ennio MorriconeSlalom ... CD
GDM (Italy), 1965. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A very groovy early soundtrack by Ennio Morricone – done with a fantastic sound that's made even more wonderful by vocal work from I Cantori Moderni – a hip vocalese group that's kind of the Italian version of The Swingle Singers! The group has sung more famously on soundtracks by Armando Trovajoli – but they sound pretty darn great on this one, leaping along wonderfully over some spy-like themes that often resonate with some 60s mod touches! Morricone's music is often jazzy, and pretty groovy at times too – giving the set a 60s swing that's completely sublime. The structure of this reissue differs greatly from the one on Dagored – as it features 23 shorter tracks – including some previously unreleased numbers – all variations on the "Slalom" and "Sestriere" themes, with sub-headings that include "Una Sera In Albergo", "Marcette Grottesche", "In Pericolo", "Titoli Versione Film", "Un Omicidio Misterioso", "Sperduto A El Cairo I", and "Incontro Magic III". ✨✧ Franco De GeminiSi Puo Fare Molto Con 7 Donne ... CD
Beat (Italy), Early 70s. Used ... Out Of Stock
Freewheeling grooves from the great Franco De Gemini – a swinging score that nicely hangs onto some of the best 60s styles of the mod years, of the sort you might hear from Piero Piccioni or Armando Trovajoli! Some cuts have vocals – sung by the lovely Melody – and others have romping rhythms with either organ, or what seems to be amplified harmonica by De Gemini – a perfect fit for the playfully swinging sounds of the tunes! Titles include the sublime scatting "Cheops & Nefertiti", plus "Omar Khayyam", "What Is This Love", "Cairo Night", "Sphinx Show", and "Cos E L'Amore". CD

✨✧ Piero PiccioniTemptation/La Figlia Del Capitano ... CD
Kronos (Germany), 1965/1968. Used ... Out Of Stock
Tempting sounds from the great Piero Piccioni – two late 60s horror scores on a single CD! First up is Temptation – a soundtrack that's got some wonderful organ lines and slow-moving grooves – of the sort that were covered by the Easy Tempo series years back, when we first fell in love with Piccioni's music! There's a slow swell and soft step to the music that's mighty nice – almost a perfect distillation of the Italian bossa influences that made for some of the best film scores of the time! The CD features 13 numbers from the film – all of them great, and the kind of variations on a single groovy theme you might find in Armando Trovajoli's La Matriarca. La Figlia Del Capitano is a bit richer, with more strings in the music, and a few more dramatic spots too – yet overall, the mood nicely fits that of Temptation – with a sense of holding back, then running forward – which suits the music very well. CD features 10 tracks from La Figlia – for a total of 23 in all. CD
