Al JarreauWe Got By ... LP
Warner, 1975. Near Mint- ... $7.99
Al's first major label record – cut when he was an emerging soul jazz vocalist, but before he'd gone totally over the top in super-slick hit mode. The album's got a good 70s LA jazzy backing, with guests like Dave Grusin, Arthur Adams, and Larry Bunker keeping the music moving at a nice pace. Includes the title cut "We Got By", plus "Sweet Potatoe Pie", "Spirit", "Susan's Song", and "Alladin's Lamp". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has some ring and edge wear.)

✨✧ Al JarreauHigh Crime ... LP
Warner, 1984. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A big one for Al Jarreau – a record that has a groove that's a bit more mainstream than some of Al's previous records, but which still leaves plenty of space for his amazing vocals! Jarreau's working again with producer Jay Graydon, who pitches the instrumentation towards more electric-sounding levels than before – more of the rhythms and keyboard parts you'd guess from the album's date, although still at a level that's warmer than some of Al's more commercial contemporaries. Titles include "Raging Waters", "Imagination", "Murphy's Law", "Tell Me", "After All", "High Crime", and "Let's Pretend". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has light wear.)

✨✧ Al JarreauBreakin' Away ... LP
Warner, 1981. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Sublime sounds from Al Jarreau – exactly the kind of record that made him a unique superstar at the time of its release, and which still continues to fly Al's flag strongly all these many years later! Jarreau's got that perfect blend between jazz roots and soulful expression here – set up in backings that are a few shades hipper than AOR, and just as perfectly polished – the kind of superb setting that could take a singer like Al and really make him into something new – opening up his sound to a huge audience who might never have tapped into the singer otherwise. Titles include the killer classic "We're In This Love Together" – a cut that's almost a genre unto itself – plus "Closer To Your Love", "My Old Friend", "Roof Garden", "Blue Rondo A La Turk", "Teach Me Tonight", and "My Old Friend". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Freddie HubbardLove Connection ... LP
Columbia, 1979. Very Good+ ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A lost treasure from the overlooked late 70s jazz years at Columbia! The album's got Freddie Hubbard working with arranger Claus Ogerman on some expansive tracks that go beyond his earlier work in the decade – sometimes blowing mellow notes over larger orchestrations, other times working in a surprisingly lean groove that has some really soulful touches! The approach shifts from track to track, but all titles are long, and the overall effect is really great. Al Jarreau guests on a sweet vocal version of "Little Sunflower", and other players on the set include Joe Farrell and Tom Scott on reeds, and Chick Corea, who plays most of the keys on the set. Titles include "Lazy Afternoon", "This Dream", "Brigitte", and "The Love Connection". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the Columbia inner sleeve. Cover has light wear and is bent a bit at the edges.)
