The title's a bit misleading – as "evening with" makes you think the record's going to be a concert. But instead, it's just some great studio work from Anita O'Day – recorded during her initial years for Verve Records! The album was recorded in the
company of 3 small groups – one with Arnold Ross, Barney Kessell, Monty Budwig, and Jackie Mills – on tracks that include "Gypsy In My Soul", "The Man I Love", and "Just One Of Those Things". The next features Bud Lavin, Budwig, and John Poole – on tracks that include "Anita's Blues", "Let's Fall In Love", and "I Cover The Waterfront". The last is the best, and features Jimmy Rowles, Tal Farlow, Leroy Vinnegar, and Larry Bunker – on 5 tracks that include "From This Moment On", "Just Friends", and "You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me".
