✨✧ Alain GoraguerMusique Classee X ... LP
Les Disques Du Culte (France), Late 70s. New Copy Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
That's a pretty racy cover – but the music inside is a lot more cool and classy – a set of sweet jazz funk numbers put together by the famous French maestro Alain Goraguer, with lots of nice electric touches! You may know Goraguer from his 60s work with singers – including France Gall and Serge Gainsbourg – or from his straighter soundtracks of that decade too – but here, he's going for a groovier, funkier style – one that fits the porno spirit of the cover, but with all the care and presentation of Alain's earlier work! In other words, these aren't just throwaway tracks churned out quickly for naughty movies – and instead, the songs are more like a 70s progression from the 60s soundtrack material by Goraguer. Titles include "Partenaires Particulieres Pour Parties Fines", "Kikumi Paravent Et Par Derriere", "Birgit Et La Male Du Pays", "Juliette Decoincee Dans L'Ascenseur", "Marie Jeanne Astique Le Pont", and "Post Scriptum Post Coitum". LP, Vinyl record album
(NOTE: The package has a cover that's pretty X-rated, and also comes with an odd X-rated activity book too! Not for minors or more sensitive spirits.)

✨✧ Michel Legrand & OthersLegrand (Re)Imagined ... CD
Universal (France), 2022. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Michel Legrand is one of our favorite composers of all time – and although the man himself passed away in 2019, his music continues to live on strongly in the hearts of countless singers and musicians he's touched over the years – including those who work together on this wonderful tribute album! The set's very different than other Legrand-related projects of this nature – as both the choice of cuts and the execution is very special – not too pop-polished, or overly sentimental – as most of the numbers here are very spare and open – almost recorded as these elegies to Michel, with beautiful reworkings of his familiar themes, often just with piano and some other light instrumentation – never sleepy, given the talents on board, but sensitively done in just the right spirit of Legrand's genius. Titles include "Windmills Of Your Mind" by Chad Lawson, "Sans Toi" by Luca D'Alberto, "Les Parapluies De Cherbourg" by Lambert, "Toujoirs Jamais" by Akira Kosemura, "Peau D'Ane" by Alban Claudin, "Chanson De Jumelles" by Joseph Schiano Di Lombo, "How Do You Keep The Music Playing" by Moux, and "Summer Of 42" by Chilly Gonzales. ✨✧ Ennio MorriconeMilano Odia – La Polizia Non Puo Sparare (180 gram red vinyl pressing) ... LP
GDM (Italy), 1974. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A beautifully sensitive Italian police soundtrack from the 70s – one scored by Ennio Morricone with a bit less of the funky bits of other cop scores of the time, and a nice mix of sad-tinged, personal styles! There's a fair bit of key Morricone touches here that resonate with his best other work of the time – spacious, almost stepping rhythms; dramatic isolated instrumentation, including a bit of off-key piano; and some warmer tones that soften some of the best moments, and keep them from being too cold or dark. The drama here is subtle, but effective – and the score's a real lost gem in the catalog of the maestro deserving wider attention! Titles include "Rapimento", "Raptus Omicida", "Milano Odia La Polizi Non Puo Sparare", and "I Conti Ora Tornano". First-ever full issue of the score – as only a few cuts were only ever issued before on a single! LP, Vinyl record album
