✨✧ VariousPop Boutique 3 – Selected Sounds For Hipsters ... LP
Spinning Wheel (Germany), 1970s. Very Good+ ... Just Sold Out!
Groovy stuff – and even better than the earlier volumes! This one's got some great tracks by European jazz artists, lots of whom you'll recognize from labels like MPS, but who are represented here by rare sound library-only recordings! There's a total of 14 tracks in all, with lots of nice keyboards, groovy reed solos, 70's electric basslines, and other groovy soundtrack-y jazz moments. Includes "Count Down" by Roland Kovac Trio, "Safari Track" by Hardy's Jet Band, "Hot Track" by Rex Brown Company, "Goukai" by Atilla Zoller, "Soft Wind" by Gary Pacific Orchestra, "Straussmania" by Daniel Salinas, "Super Baby" by Dusko Goykovich, "Casting Office" by Rolf Kuhn, and lots lots more! ✨✧ VariousPop Boutique 1 – A Sophisticated Selection Of Unreleased Soundtrack Tunes ... LP
Spinning Wheel (Germany), 1970s. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The great first entry in this overlooked series – a mix of sound library gems and other soulful delights from the European scene – most of which never got release over here on this side of the Atlantic! A good number of tracks are from the Sonoton label archives, and they're sprinkled here with a few other key cuts as well – all in a hip blend of funky fusion, electric jazz, and electronic numbers – most of which are quite different than the usual sound library bag! Titles include "The Camp" and "Don't Play That Game (part 2)" by Klaus Weiss, "Whistler On The Rocks" by Eric Vanell, "Asteroide" by Racines Synthetiques, "Integrate" by Sam Sklair, "Wall Paper Music 6" by Dave Sarkys, "Actual 39" by Georges Rodi, "Iron Wood" by Africna Voodoo, "Pop Boutique" by Fritz Maldener Trio, and "Light & Shadow" by George King Organ Sounds. ✨✧ VariousNuggets – Luke Vibert's Selection ... LP
Lo Recordings (UK), Early 70s. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
Everybody's getting in on the funky sound library action! This set of rare funky gems was selected by Luke Vibert – who's confessed to a love of the odder and more obscure side of the 70s Brit sound library scene. The set's way better than you might think – as Luke really knows his stuff – and the tracks on here have a very different sound than the regular sound library funky instrumentals, with a lot more electronics, lots of keyboards, moog, bleeps, blonks, and plenty of funky beats! Luke's dug through the Southern, IM, and Chappell catalogs, and has come up with a blinding batch of tunes that are almost like 70s equivalents of the sort of music he's making today – only funkier! Titles include "Electronic Track 12" by Cecil Luter, "Soft Bossa" by Nino Nardini, "Xylo Spleen" by Eddie Warner, "Electrostalactites" by Anthony King, "Cleopatra" by Georges Teperino, "The Bungler" by Boneschi Electronic Combo, "Intimations" by Midas Touch, "On The Air" by Eddie Warner, "Pots & Pans" by Anthony King, "Zouche Drums 3" by David Holland, and "Strange Love Action" by Johanna Group. 27 tracks in all! Suzanne CianiFlowers Of Evil ... LP
Finders Keepers (UK), 1969. New Copy (reissue)... $21.99 26.99
Suzanne Ciani has cut some sweeter sets over the years, but this album's definitely not one of them – as the whole thing is an early piece from the artist's career, recorded on the Buchla synthesizer, and based on the work of Charles Baudelaire! The core piece, "Flower Of Evil", features a recitation of a Baudelaire poem right into the Buchla – which then complicates and distorts the voice, as it mixes with these wonderful waves of analogue electronics – bubbling, flowing, and stretching out to create this moody landscape that really would have made the poet proud! The other three selections on the record are even more stark and spooky – still done on the Buchla, but with a vibe that's maybe even more in the mode of some of the Pierre Henry experiments from the same time. Titles include "Glass Houses" and "Token Spokes (parts 1 & 2)". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Mort GarsonJourney To The Moon & Beyond ... LP
Sacred Bones, Late 60s/Early 70s. New Copy ... $18.99 21.98
One of the coolest collections of work we've ever heard from the great Mort Garson – a selection of tracks that were done during the same years as his famous album releases in the world of moog and analog synth, but done for much more obscure sources that include television, film, and other avenues of expression! The title's a reference to a cut here that was used during a 1969 broadcast of the moon landing – but there's so much more here too, and as always with Garson, there's a blend of electronic experimentation and tunefulness that make the whole thing pretty darn groovy – and not just a trip on the farther reaches of experimental electronics. Titles include "Moon Journey", "Zoos Of The World", "Music For Advertising #8", "Love Is A Garden", "The D-Bee's Cat Boogie", "Black Eye", "Western Dragon (part 3)", "Captain DJ Disco UFO", and "The Big Game Hunters See The Cheetah". VariousSpecial Radio/TV Record No 23 (colored vinyl pressing) ... LP
Selection/Sdban (Belgium), Late 70s. New Copy ... $29.99 39.99
A rare look at a very obscure sound library from the European scene – the Belgian Selection label, home to some very groovy sounds from the late 70s! The music here resonates with Belgian soundtrack and jazz work of the period – and shares some musicians from those genres too – and the titles within mix funky jazz with larger arrangements – all instrumental, and handled in a strong array of styles – some upbeat, some midtempo, and some cool and laidback! Titles include "Black World" by Stern Selection, "Space Shuttle Jazz" by Jacques Siroul, "Crystal Waltz" by Rene Costy, "Chief Of Freen Bean" by Bob Porter, "No Thoroughfare" by Jordan Stevy, and "Osmoses" by Leonard D Messina. VariousTele Music Vol 3 – 26 French Music Library Classics ... LP
Tele Music/BMG (France), 1970s/Early 80s. New Copy 2LP ... $37.99 39.99
Great grooves galore – a sweet selection of tracks from the late 60s onwards, none of which were made available to the public at the time! The French Tele Music company was one of those secret sound library labels – recording top shelf tracks during the 70s, but then only passing them along to TV, radio, and film producers – for possible use in later projects! This meant that there was a rich array of wonderful sounds that never made it to records that the public could buy in stores – and the result is a collection like this, which is overflowing with killer grooves that you're not likely to have in your record collection at all. Styles range from funky jazz to clubby grooves, with plenty of soundtrack-styled funk numbers in the mix – and titles include "Gang Train" by Bernard Estardy, "West Coast Drive" by Pierre Alain Dahan & Mat Camison, "Mitsuko" by Jean Jacques Debout, "Percussionissimo" by Hervey Roy, "Suspense Time" by Michel Gonet, "Meteor One" by Sauveur Mallia, "Pop Percussions" by Janko Nilovic, "Rocket 2" by Bernard Lubat, and "Les Copans De La Basse" by Guy Pedersen. 26 tracks in all – selected by Lord Funk & DJ LC! ✨✧ Koen De BruyneKoen De Bruyne In Kluis – Special Radio/TV Record No 20 ... LP
Selection/Sdban (Belgium), 1975. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A really haunting little sound library record, and one that's very different than just about anything else we can think of in the genre! The set is filled with spare keyboards and electronics – almost in the territory of Terry Riley, but slowed down in pace – so that it's more spacious and meditative, with these elements that almost feel like they'd be perfect for tripping out in a planetarium and watching some nighttime star show! The work was originally used in the film In Kluis, but works beautifully here as a meditative album on its own – with titles that include "Fences", "Nude", "The Wall", "Tree Angle", "Observations", "Problems", "Inside", and "Desire".
