Freedom PowerFreedom Power ... LP
CMT/Sonor (Italy), Early 70s. New Copy (reissue)... $44.99
Mad funky work from the Italian studio scene of the 70s – the only album we've ever seen from Freedom Power – a combo who play with the energy of an American blacksploitation soundtrack from back in the day! There's loads of heavy drums, fast-riffing guitar, and sweet keyboards on the set – and although the record's got a few trippy moments that feature slightly psychedelic production, the overall vibe is way more in the soulful side of the spectrum – which really gives the album a universal appeal. There's some great tenor on a few cuts, and we wish we could tell you more about the players – but we're guessing they're some top-shelf jazz musicians, working under an assumed name. Titles include "Happy Fire", "Sigla RP", "Reaction", "Vortice", "Psycho", "Trip Free", "Freedom Power", "Privacy", and "Dopping 2000". LP, Vinyl record album

Orchestra CometaTower Of Power ... CD
Cometa (Italy), Early 70s. New Copy ... $19.99
Cool keyboards, moogy moments, and lots of other sweet electric touches – all served up in this rare album of sound library grooves from the Orchestra Cometa – a larger ensemble made of players who worked for the legendary Italian studio outfit! The music here is in a mid 70s funky soundtrack style – grooves that take off from American blacksploitation elements by mixing funky bottoms with fuller strings, often laced together with heavy basslines or wah wah guitar – with more than enough room for keyboards to soar over the top! Titles include "Quiet Boys", "Ambiguity", "Mad Winds", "Dopping 2000 #2", "Cremolata", "Hotel Carlton", and "Rotocalco Flash". CD
