✨✧ Tony IglioDrugstore ... CD
Try/Cinedelic (Italy), 1973. New Copy ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
You gotta love a record with song titles like "Marijuana", "Drugstore", and "Hurrycane" – and we can definitely promise that the overall sound definitely matches those trippy references! The record's one of the most obscure Italian sound library sets from the time – and really has a feel that's more like an offbeat jazz album overall – never too outside, but definitely modern – with very strong passages from the saxophone, flute, and trumpet players in the group – who work nicely alongside some sweet organ and guitar, which provide some excellent psychedelic touches! Tony Iglio himself handles the Hammond – and wrote and arranged all the tunes – and in addition to the three mentioned above, other titles include "Jungla", "Yatagan", "Yellow Drops", "Soft Cream", and "Velvet". ✨✧ Egisto MacchiGangsters 70 ... LP
Cinedelic (Italy), 1968. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A record that's very different than you might expect from the title – not 70s crime/cop material from the Italian scene, and instead a much richer, more sophisticated soundtrack from the late 60s – one that really makes great use of the darker, moodier side of the talents of Egisto Macchi! The music at times resonates with some of Macchi's more experimental library work, and does include some collaborations with Walter Branchi of Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza – but some moments are more straightforwardly jazzy, and have elements that resonate with other Italian soundtracks of the period – all of which makes the record a really fantastic blend of styles, and a great bridge between the worlds of cinema, library, and serious experimental music! ✨✧ Giacomo Dell'OrsoA Me Stesso Con Simpatia (with download) ... LP
Interbeat/Cinedelic (Italy), 1975. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A sweet 70s sound library session from the tiny Interbeat label – and one that does a great job of mixing up jazz, bossa, and maybe a bit of proggish keyboards too! The sound is relatively stripped-down – mostly jazzy rhythms and keyboards, served up in a variety of really cool tunes – and sometimes messed up a bit in the production, with subtle use of echo and reverb that trip things out, but in a very gentle way! There's a bit of tenor or flute at times, too – and the groove runs from hard and funky, to cool and breezy – on tracks that include "Hippy Piu Che Mai", "Sambatico", "Un Italiano A Manhattan", "Ciao Carioca", "Dolce Emma", "Valzer Souvanir", "Balla Hermosa", and "Ieri Sera A Rio". ✨✧ Egisto MacchiAsia ... LP
Cinedelic (Italy), 1979. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A record that nicely combines the two different sound library sides Egisto Macchi – his scene setting ability with a lovely melody, and his deeper darker experiments on the further reaches of sound! The album's got a cover that belies its complexity – and within, you'll definitely hear Eastern melodies and instrumentation that echo the title – but mixed with some more complicated sonic elements that make the whole thing very different than just another travelogue-styled recording! Macchi has this amazing way of bringing out all these moody tones, even when things are tuneful – and the album's got this sense of complexity that's wonderful, even when the tunes seem to come across as more straightforward. Titles include "Luci Dei Traffico", "Ceylon", "La Citta Sacra", "Il Budda", "Corsa Nella Giungla", "Pescatori Di Ceylon", and "Raccolta Del The". LP, Vinyl record album
