✨✧ James BaldwinStruggle ... LP
Black America/Buddah, Early 70s. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Baldwin speaks on his thoughts, his writings, and art in general – in a rare recorded performance that goes beyond the scope of his usual fiction. There's no other backing, and the LP is a nice intimate moment with Baldwin, whose voice is as beautiful and haunting as his writings! (Spoken Word, Soul) LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ MaloDos ... LP
Warner, 1972. Near Mint- Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
A seminal bit of Latin funk from the Bay Area scene of the early 70s – the second album from Malo, and an even harder-hitting jam session than the first! The group are really in top form here – taking off with Santana-inspired riffs that are filled with heavy percussion, soaring organ, and guitar from Carlos' brother Jorge – all matched by some incredible horn work from trumpeter Forrest Bachtel and a young Hadley Caliman – sounding especially great here before his solo years as a jazz artist! The legendary Francisco Aguabella is on conga, and tracks include "Momolombo", "Oye Mama", "I'm For Real", "Midnight Thoughts", "Hela", and "Latin Bugaloo". (Latin, Soul) LP, Vinyl record album
(Green label pressing in the embossed cover, with a cut corner.)

✨✧ Dick GregoryIn Living Black & White ... LP
Colpix, 1961. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Sharp-edged wit from a young Dick Gregory – and the kind of record that easily set the standard for countless comics to come! The tracks here are mostly free-form – still structured into a few routines, but also pretty easygoing and open – with more of the openly rapping sort of approach also used by Lenny Bruce and Mort Sahl at the time. Gregory's certainly got all the politics of the latter, focused into his own unique perspective – one that was a key force of change in the Civil Rights era. Titles include "The Congo Daily Tribune", "Comedians Of The 60s", "Thoughts On Outer Space", and "Not Poor Just Busted". (Comedy, Soul) LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Ronnie LawsEvery Generation ... LP
United Artists, 1980. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A great little set of soulful fusion – played by one of the artists who helped invent the genre! Ronnie's mixing soul and jazz easily here – hitting a sweet groove that's a bit more electric than ever, but which still has all the warmth and depth of his 70s work. A few tracks feature Ronnie singing lead vocals – but most of the numbers are instrumentals that focus on his extremely catchy work on saxophone – in that rhythmically soloing mode that first broke big on the earlier hit "Always There". Backing vocals on the set are by Eloise Laws and Miki Howard – and titles include "Young Child", "Tomorrow", "Every Generation", "As One", "Love's Victory", and the sublime mellow cut "Thoughts & Memories". (Jazz, Soul) LP, Vinyl record album
