Sweet funky instrumentals from Galt MacDermot – the man known for his contributions to jazz, his legendary score for Hair, and a fair bit of classic hip hop samples over the years! The set's one of Galt's greatest small combo moments – recorded in the funky 70s with a sweet group that features the leader on keyboards, Ted Dunbar on electric guitar, and the great Bernard Purdie on drums! Purdie's got this sweet, laidback groove that's almost soundtrack funk – and Billy Nichols plays lots of wah wah guitar lines over the top – which slink along wonderfully, with a very seductive vibe. Titles include the three part "Golden Apples" – plus "Duffer", "Love Scene (Climax)", "Fishing", "Bedroom", and "Black Street Nightmare". (Jazz, Soul)CD
