✨✧ Mickey & SylviaDo It Again ... LP
RCA, Late 50s/1973. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A great look back at the early work of Sylvia "Pillow Talk" Robinson – packaged together by RCA at a time when she was riding high again on her own All Platinum label! The work here features a very young Sylvia singing with guitarist Mickey Baker – in an early soul duet style that kind of paved the way for Ike & Tina and others in years to come – slightly R&B at times, but nicely playful, and filled with great guitar from Mickey. The set includes their classic "Love Is Strange", which was a big hit for RCA in the late 50's, plus a number of other tracks from the years 1956 to 1960 – including "Love Will Make You Fail In School", "Say The Word", "What Will I Do", "Love Is The Only Thing", and "This Is My Story". Vibration, 1973. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Wonderful stuff from Sylvia Robinson – the singer who scored big as a youngster in the Mickey & Sylvia group, and who later became the den mother of hip hop with her Sugar Hill label. This set was recorded during the time that Sylvia had a very successful run with her New Jersey group of soul labels like All Platinum and Stang – and it's a monument to her breathy sexy style, and is probably one of the raunchiest records to hit the top of the charts in the early 70s. The hit single "Pillow Talk" was bedroom fodder for couples all over the world – but the whole record's pretty darn nice, and equally sexy! Features the great "Didn't I", a slinky groover with a good sample riff – plus "Give It Up In Vain", "Had Any Lately", and "My Thing". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Inez & Charlie FoxxCome By Here ... LP
Dynamo, 1967. Very Good+ ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Killer soul from Inez and Charlie Fox – a raw male/female style in the vein of Ike & Tina or Mickey & Sylvia! This record's one of the few they ever cut on their own, and it features lots of lesser known tracks like "I Love You 1000 Times", "Guilty" (their answer to "I Stand Accused"), "Baby Take It All", and the title cut, "Come By Here." Great cover, too! LP, Vinyl record album
(Original stereo pressing, in great shape! Cover has a small bit of splitting on the top seam but this is a nice copy overall.)
