Stevie WonderFulfillingness' First Finale ... LP
Tamla, 1974. Very Good+ Gatefold ... $11.99
A fantastic 70s classic from Stevie Wonder – part of a great run of records in which he broke completely from his earlier Motown sound – and showed the world that he was one of the true musical visionaries of the decade! The righteous currents of his previous few albums are fully in place here, taken with a bit more focus that helped the record gain Stevie a few new followers in the crossover market, while still offering up plenty to please all the minds that had already been blown by is initial work of the 70s! There's some fantastic themes here, and so many new ideas too – and titles include the slow-funk moog classic "Creepin", which has these wonderful washes of sound throughout, weird vocals by Stevie, and some drums that bump around in off-kilter little patterns just at the right moments. The album also includes the hit "Boogie On Reggae Woman", plus "Too Shy To Say", "You Haven't Done Nothin", "It Ain't No Use", "Bird Of Beauty", and "Please Don't Go". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ SyreetaSyreeta ... LP
MoWest, 1972. Near Mint- ... $39.99
One of our favorite soul records of the 70s – and one of the most unique albums ever cut by Motown, too! The lovely Syreeta steps out here with key studio help from then-partner Stevie Wonder – who makes things even more righteous and more cosmic than on any of his own 70s material – almost as if working with Syreeta really cut Stevie loose to explore territory he'd never have handled on his own! Yet the real charm here is Syreeta, too – amazing vocals that are on a par with Minnie Riperton at her righteous best – set to very unique backings that are very heavy on keyboards and electronics – almost a deeper, hipper take on the early territory of Timmy Thomas – given a very spiritual spin by Syreeta and Stevie! The pair wrote lots of material for the album – including the amazing tracks "I Love Every Little Thing About You", "Black Maybe", and "Keep Him Like He Is". The album also includes an incredible version of "She's Leaving Home" – plus the tracks "Baby Don't You Let Me Lose This", "To Know You Is To Love You", and "Happiness". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Force MDsTouch & Go ... LP
Tommy Boy, 1987. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A pop soul classic from Force MDs – the kind of record that countless other groups would copy in years to come! The MDs' mix of hip hop production and straighter soul was hardly new at the time, but it's carried off perfectly here – done in a way that shakes off the last vestiges of the harder modes of earlier records, and moves the focus over to the sweeter side of the group's harmonies – letting Stevie D, TCD, Mercury, and Trisco sparkle with the warmth that's really their strongest suit. There's still a fair bit of beats, keyboards, and bassy bottom parts, but the harmonies here are probably the best thing going – and tracks include "Midnite Lover", "Your Love Drives Me Crazy", "Touch & Go", "Would You Love Me", "Love Is A House", and "Take Your Love Back". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the lyric sleeve.)
