Although we always wince at the idea of a JBs reunion album (and there have been a bit too many in the past 10 years), this one isn't as
bad as you might think. Fred Wesley is handling production, and the group includes Jabo Starks, St Clair Pickney, Bobby Byrd, Clyde Stubblefield, and Wesley himself. The overall sound is more Horny Horns than JBs – and with vocals on many cuts, the record feels a bit like Wesley's House Party album from 1980. In fact, the main problem is really the vocals – as the group really needs someone like James Brown to sing lead on most tracks! Tracks include "Soul Men", "Tag Along", "
Born To Groove", "Do The Doo", "What About The Music", "Carry On", and "Dynaflo".
