VariousLatinamericarpet – Exploring The Vinyl Warp Of Latin American Psychedelia Vol 1 ... CD
Sublime Frequencies, 1960s/1970s. Used ... $6.99
A very weird little collection of psychedelic albums from the Latin American scene of the 60s and 70s – one that's got some highly usual music, put together in a format that's equally odd as well! There's a bit less of the "formal" approach here than on other compilations – and the tunes sort of slide into one another with a jaunty, playful quality – one that also comes from the slightly whimsical nature of some of the tunes. There's a bit less fuzz and freakout than on other Latin American psyche sets – and instead, there's almost a bit more folkloric elements mixed in alongside the bass, drums, and guitars – often used in very odd ways. Titles include "Vamos A La Cama" by La Familia Telerin, "El Stomp & Maria Es El Nombre" by Los Bates, "Pedro Y El Lobo" by Santiago Gomez Cou, "Altuntan Ripuncca" by Conjunto Condemayta, "Ronda Tropical" by Los Destellos, "Preparando El Marck 5" by Meteoro, and "Cuando Sea Grande" by Los Traviesos. Oneohtrix Point NeverGood Time – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack ... CD
Warp, 2017. New Copy ... $13.99 14.99
The contemporary soundtrack is alive and well in the hands of an artist like Oneohtrix Point Never – brought back to a new sense of intensity that it hadn't had since the early days of electronic pioneers like John Carpenter and David Lynch! Tracks are mostly spare, but striking – and, a bit like the music to Speed, the score here has a way of referencing past modes, but condensing things with a more contemporary vibe – shaking out any of the cheesier possibilities, and really making sounds that have a strong current of darkness! Titles include "Romance Apocalypse", "The Acid Hits", "Entry To White Castle", "Ray Wakes Up", "6th Floor", "Hospital Escape", "Bail Bonds", and "The Pure & The Damned", which features Iggy Pop. (Soundtracks, Rock) CD
Also available Good Time – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack ... LP 24.99

Fantastic sounds from Brian Eno – music that feels like it came right out of the same period as his early discreet music experiments – and which reminds us that, although countless others have explored this territory, nobody does it better than the man who invented it! The sounds are spare, yet never meaningless – beautifully constructed with this hint of melody in the air – a slowness that only seems to create deeper contemplation of the few elements – and a sense of perfection that makes both the silences and sounds resonate with undeniable meaning. One long piece – and a record that we'd put on a par with his classic Music For Airports! CD

Wing/Wah Wah (Spain), 1967. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A classic set of raw raunchy rock from the late 60s – originally issued as kind of a "cash in" record to grab some bucks on the rise of psych and garage – but a record that easily stands head to head with the best of its time! These guys drink heavy from the same brew as The Seeds, Count Five, Sonics, and other groups of the period – and work in a raw, garagey style that's hardly what you'd expect from Mercury Records Wing label subsidiary – especially given the sound of the guitars! Many cuts are covers, but they're performed with as much bold energy as the original tracks – and the set is awash in freak, fuzz, and echo! Titles include "Psychotic Reaction", "Psychedelic Dream", "Psychotic Vibrations", "Mind Jammer", "The Warper", and "Turn On Your Love Light". LP, Vinyl record album
(Limited edition of 500!)
