VariousInterwizje – East European Visions Of Groovy Sound 1962 to 1982 ... CD
GAD (Poland), 1960s/1970s/Early 80s. New Copy ... $19.99 22.99
Fantastic funky tunes that you'd never track down on your own – all pulled from a host of rare Eastern European records from the years when the Iron Curtain kept most of this music from getting out to the rest of the world at large! There's plenty of heavy drums and basslines on most tracks – served up by artists who clearly got a chance to hear all the best that was going on in American funk during the 70s, then found a way to mix it with all sorts of unusual instrumental and production touches that make for all these compelling twists and turns along the way – as do the non-English language lyrics, which further set these tunes apart from the rest! The compilation was done by the Soul Service DJ team, who've given us some great Polish funk sets in the past – and titles include "Gospel Song" by Skaldowie, "Hollywoodschaukel" by Gunter Gollasch, "Berlin 1" by Tihomir Pop Asanovic, "Everybody" by Olympic, "Adj Egy Percet" by Sarolta Zalatnay, "Jakoby Nic" by Marta Kubisova, "Stopp Seisku Aeg" by Velly Joonas & Vstretsa, and "Waski Przelyk Wieloryba" by Bizony. (Funky Compilations, Rock) CD
Also available Interwizje – East European Visions Of Groovy Sound 1962 to 1982 ... LP 32.99
