✨✧ VariousStarday Dixie Rockabilly Vol 2 ... CD
Starday/Ace (UK), Late 50s. Used ... Out Of Stock
Killer cuts from a label that really had its ear to the ground – the young Starday/Dixie label, run by the team of Pappy Daily and Don Pierce – both of whom were becoming a powerhouse force in country music, but could also pick some great rockabilly too! Although the imprint was based in Texas, it handled custom pressings for artists from all around the country – and this collection brings together some real gems that came to the label that way – tracks from the mid-Atlantic and different points in the south – all by young artists who were really on fire with boundless energy and new ideas! There's a nice current of hillbilly in the rockabilly styles here – similar to some of the other Texas or Arkansas productions of the period – and titles include "Got Another Baby" by Lucky Wray, "Rock N Roll Boogie" by Orella & Norella Myers, "Baby I'll Never Let You Go" by The Love Brothers, "The Cats Were Jumpin" by John Worthan, "Dancing To The Rhythm Of A Rock N Roll Band" by Eddie Seacrest & The Rolling Rockets, "I Want My Baby" by Billy Match & The Starfires, "Honky Tonk Stomp" by Hal Payne, "Coffee Baby" by Alton Guyon, "Hot Dog" by Corky Jones, "Why Did You Lie To Me" by Lattie Moore, "You're Gonna Reap What You Sow" by Ray Strong, and the cuts "My Life's Ambition", "Move Around, and "Careful Baby" by Joe Poovey & The Royal Dukes.
