✨✧ Captain Beefheart & His Magic BandLick My Decals Off, Baby ... CD
Reprise/Bizarre/Straight, 1970. Used ... Out Of Stock
One of best ever records by gonzo rock genius Captain Beefheart and his incredible Magic Band – the proper follow up to Trout Mask Replica – and they;re still at the height of their powers! Art Tripp's marimba and percussion gives the group an extra rhythmic complexity, not that they EVER lacked for that, even while the bands strips down some of the more meandering tendencies of Trout. They don't skim on the aural art, even with the more focused approach, making one a leaner effort, but just as much a masterpiece. Tracks include "Lick My Decals Off, Baby", "I Love You, You Big Dummy", "Bellerin' Plain", "Petrified Forest", and "The Smithsonian Institute Blues (Or The Big Dig)". This may very well be their finest moment. CD

✨✧ Harry NilssonHarry ... LP
RCA, 1969. Near Mint- Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
A wonderful early album by one of the great oddball songwriters of the last forty years! The Harry album is certainly the bridge between Nilsson's two previous wildly bombastic LPs, and the slightly more subdued material that popped up on the Schmilsson and later records. Harry runs the gamut from the cute and gentle "The Puppy Song" and "Mournin' Glory Song", to the more gonzo stuff. Other tracks include "Mother Nature's Son", "Fairfax Rag", the excellent break track "Rainmaker" and "I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ RumblersIt's A Gas! – 28 Boss Nuggets From Downey, Highland & Uptown ... CD
Ace (UK), Early 60s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Killer Southern California garage grooves from The Rumbers – seedy, surf & drag rock influenced instrumentals and gonzo vocals alike – great sings cut for Downey, Highland and Uptown Records. The boys were cleanly coiffed and sharply dressed, but their style of proto trash rock and hard grooving R&B influences is a genuine blueprint for seedy rock to come. Often lumped in with the surf rock scene, which isn't a terribly wrong classification, there's much more of a garage R&B vibe and an all around sharper edge. Awesome stuff whatever ya want to call it! 28 tracks in all: "Boss"," Tootnanny", "Bugged" (we're thinking Lux Interior must have adored this track), "Wild Weekend", "Wiggle Wobble", "Rumble", "Stomping Time", "Night Scene", "All Night Long", "Night Train", "Boss Soul", "Riot In Cell Block #9", "Strawboss", "Why Did You Make Me Cry", "Angry Sea" and many more.
