✨✧ Pink FloydEarly Years – 1972 Obfusc/Ation (2CD/DVD/Blu-ray set) ... CD
Sony, 1972. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A mindblowing contribution to the early catalog of Pink Floyd – served up here in a special series of CD/DVD combinations that bring together rare recordings, unusual mixes, different versions, live tracks, and some beautiful film performances too! This 1972 package features a full CD of Obscured By Clouds, presented in a completely new 2016 remix – as well as Live At Pompeii, again in a new 2016 stereo remix – plus an alternate take of "Careful With That Axe Eugene". DVD/Blu-Ray features footage from the recording session for Obscured By Clouds in France, Live At Pompeii with the newly remixed sound, a concert/news report from France Poitiers/Autour Du passage, the Roland Petit Pink Floyd Ballet from France, and two tracks performed at Brighton Dome in the UK. Also features cool bonus replica memorabilia too! CD

✨✧ Ken Thorne/Wynder K FrogTouchables ... LP
20th Century, 1968. Sealed ... Out Of Stock
A pretty darn psych/groovy soundtrack – to what looks like a very strange film! The music is by Ken Thorne – and the tracks are a mix of mod rhythms, instrumental groovers, and some very trippy numbers that use echoey percussion and some electrified instrumentation. A few cuts have vocals – such as "Respect" by The Ferris Wheel and "Touchables Theme", sung by Nirvana, in a style that's almost in the Bob Crewe mode – but the best cuts are the instrumentals, which are really really fantastic. A few cuts have organ by Wynder K Frog – and titles include "Samson's Theme", "The Dome", "Sadie's Theme", "Christian & Melanie", "Blues For A Frog", and "The Chase". (Soundtracks, Rock) LP, Vinyl record album
(Sealed original pressing! Shrink is slightly open, but this copy is great overall.)

✨✧ Love SculptureBlues Helping (yellow cover) ... LP
Rare Earth, 1969. Very Good ... Out Of Stock
A surprising little gem from the late 60s UK blues rock scene – and one of the first efforts from a young Dave Edmunds! Edmunds is the key member of this trio – singing lead vocals and playing some incredibly smoking guitar that kicks off this blues-heavy set, and needs no apologies whatsoever! Tunes include 2 great instrumentals – Freddy King's "Stumble" and the original "Blues Helping" – both of which have that unmistakable Edmunds sound already firmly in place – plus versions of "I Believe To My Soul", "Come Back Baby", "Don't Answer The Door", "So Unkind" and "On The Road Again". Domenico (Domenico Lancellotti)Sramba ... LP
Mais Um Discos (UK), 2023. New Copy ... $23.99 25.99
One of the darkest albums we've ever heard from Domenico – very different than his collaborations with Kassin and Moreno Veloso! The sound here has a lot more electronics and distortion – not unfamiliar with other records on the Mais Um Discos label, but a bit different than some of Domenico's other work – although there's some bossa-styled acoustic guitar and vocals at times, which really makes a great contrast and warms things up nicely! Producer Ricardo Dias Gomes had a big hand in the sound, and the album is maybe more of a collaboration between the two than just a Domenico solo set – and the whole thing definitely marks another amazing chapter in his wonderful run of records over the years. Titles include "Diga", "Nada Sera De Outra Maneira", "Mole", "Ta Brabo", "Aterrizar", and "Um Abraco No Faust". (Brazil, Rock) LP, Vinyl record album

Nino FerrerNino Dandy (aka Nino Rebel & Nino Groovy) ... CD
Universal (France), Late 60s/1970s. New Copy 2CDs ... $14.99 21.99
A stunning introduction to the music of Nino Ferrer – one of the coolest, grooviest French singers of the late 60s and 70s – an artist who never gets the same sort of exposure as Serge Gainsbourg, France Gall, or some of his other contemporaries – but who we think is equally great! Nino can bring in bits of soul, mod, bossa, or other elements to his music – and as the 70s move in, he still keeps things very groovy by moving into headier territory that uses organ, guitar, and drums in ways that open up and make the music even cooler than before! This package features 40 gems from Nino – a tremendous selection of great tracks that includes "Vomitation", "Cannabis", "Vivent Les Moules", "Le Sud", "La Rua Madureira", "Les Hommes A Tout Faire", "L'Arbre Noir", "On He Hein Bon", "Je Vends Des Robes", "Le Roi D'Angleterre", "La Banda A Ferrer", "Je Vous Dis Bonne Chance", "Moses", "Un An D'Amour", "L'Angleterre", "Knou", "Bloody Flamenco", and "Sodome Et Gomorrhe". Also features the rare soundtrack tune "La Route". (French, Rock) CD
(Note that all three titles in this series have the same tracks – Nino Rebel, Nino Dandy, & Nino Groovy – an odd choice, but Nino is a groovy dandy rebel!)

Jefferson AirplaneBless Its Pointed Little Head (LP sleeve edition) ... CD
RCA/Culture Factory, 1969. Used ... $14.99
Jefferson Airplane's first live album – capturing them at a late 60s peak, at the Fillmores East and West – stretching things out nicely onstage and featuring a bunch of cool covers! Even though Jefferson Airplane has always been a symbol for freewheeling hippie excess, the album versions of so many of their benchmark tunes are pretty concise – but they get a nice workout in the live setting, without it ever getting too far out – and with those killer group harmonies in place. Includes "3/5 Of A Mile In 10 Seconds", "Fat Angel", "Somebody To Love", "It's No Secret", "Plastic Fantastic Lover", "Bear Melt" and more. CD

Jefferson AirplaneSurrealistic Pillow (LP sleeve edition) ... CD
RCA/Culture Factory, 1967. Used ... $14.99
Early genius from these Bay Area stalwarts – one of the greatest rock records of its time! Surrealistic Pillow is the second Jefferson Airplane album, but they took a number of huge creative leaps in the 8 months or so between their debut record and this one. This one is where they're joined by psych siren Grace Slick, but it's not just the line-up change that sets it apart. Surrealistic Pillow is a perfect title, as it's comforting and disorienting at the same time. It's also the magical confluence of wildly different spirits – with standout contributions by the entire band. Titles include the seminal "White Rabbit" – plus "Embryonic Journey", "3/5 Of A Mile In 10 Seconds", "DCBA 25", "How Do You Feel", "Today", "She Has Funny Cars", and "Plastic Fantastic Lover". CD

✨✧ John Cale & Terry RileyChurch of Anthrax (LP sleeve edition) ... CD
Columbia/Culture Factory, 1970. Used ... Out Of Stock
One of those landmark meetings of mighty talents that sounds even better on record than it does on paper – as the set somehow finds this really special space that's completely between all the best early 70s modes of both Terry Riley and John Cale! Cale was really coming into his own at the time as a solo act – creating amazing records after leaving the Velvet Underground, but also still tied to the deeper art scene from which he emerged. Riley was on the way to becoming one of the most popular of the more modern composers – thanks to a nod from The Who, and a big audience for his wonderfully trippy records on Columbia. The label allowed the pair to create this really special music here – sounds that borrow from Riley's minimalism, while also having some of the darkness of Cale's own compositions – and coming across with this jagged, almost modal sort of approach that's really great. Cale only sings on one song, and the rest of the set is instrumental – as Riley plays piano, organ, and soprano sax – and Cale joins in on bass, guitar, viola, and harpsichord. The two of them groove together in these totally cool tracks that build and build, with minimal lines repeating over and over in endlessly fascinating groove – in a way that touches on a weirdly funky mode! The cut "Ides Of March" has the potential to be dancefloor groover in the jazz dance scene, and there's lots of other great tracks like "Church of Anthrax", "The Protege", and "The Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles". ✨✧ Rare EarthMidnight Lady (LP sleeve edition) ... CD
Rare Earth/Culture Factory (France), 1976. Used ... Out Of Stock
One of the great records that Rare Earth did in collaboration with producer Norman Whitfield – a set that continues the deeply soulful vibe of their earliest records, but also offers a nice update to the sound! The style's in the kind of well-crafted funk that Norman would soon issue on his Whitfield label – all the bass-heavy bottom of his late 60s Motown righteous recordings, but with some deeper 70s currents too – really pushing even the more rockish moments on the set into surprisingly soulful territory! As usual with Whitfield, all the arrangements are his own – and titles include "Midnight Lady", "Finger Lickin Good", "It's A Natural", "Do It Right", "He Who Picks A Rose", and "Ain't No Sun Since You've Been Gone".
