TrapezeTrapeze ... LP
Threshold, 1970. Near Mint- Gatefold ... $33.99 39.99
The debut album of Trapeze – a great little group that's maybe best known as the early home of Glenn Hughes, but who have plenty to offer on their own! Production is by John Lodge, of the Moody Blues – a strong supporter of the group at their start – but the sound is very different than his own work – sometimes with harmonies that almost have the group coming across in heavier territory than the earlier Bee Gees, sometimes with hints of the hard rock elements that Hughes would bring to later music. Drummer Dave Holland provides excellent work on the set – and titles include "The Giant's Dead Hoorah", "Over", "Nancy Gray", "It's Only A Dream", "Suicide", "Send Me No Letters", and "It's My Life". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original pressing with Bestway stamp. Cover has a cutout notch, light wear, and is bumped at the top right corner.)

✨✧ Alice Coltrane & Carlos SantanaIlluminations ... LP
Columbia, 1974. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
A really mindblowing collaboration between two of the most spiritual mainstream musicians of the early 70s – legendary guitarist Carlos Santana and spiritual jazz guru Alice Coltrane! The set came at a time when Santana was reaching for much deeper ideas in both his music and his personal life – and Coltrane turned out to be a perfect creative fit, as she'd already been down the path with her own music for years – and helps Carlos here find an incredible setting that really lets his new vision take flight! The album's a very collaborative effort – with Alice on piano, organ, and harp – but Coltrane also brings in some fuller arrangements on half of the tracks – really opening things up, alongside other musicians who include Jack DeJohnette on drums, Dave Holland on bass, Jules Broussard on soprano sax and flute, and Tom Coster on both acoustic and electric piano. The strings are sublime – as heavenly as on Alice's own records – and titles include "Angel Of Air Angel Of Water", "Bliss The Eternal Now", "Angel Of Sunlight", "Illuminations", and "Guru Sri Chinmoy Aphorism". (Jazz, Rock) LP, Vinyl record album
(Original 70s US pressing, with inner sleeve – a nice copy!)

✨✧ Beaver & KrauseIn A Wild Sanctuary ... CD
Reprise/Collectors Choice, 1970. Used ... Out Of Stock
One of the best records ever from Beaver and Krause – largely because there's not so much noodling! This one features the pair on moog and organ, with help from Dave Grusin on piano, Milt Holland on percussion, Howard Roberts on guitar, and Bud Shank on reeds. The sound isn't jazz at all – but more a mix of spacey grooves and bubbling bits, with much more of a song-like structure than on other records. There's a few nice cuts here that almost hit a groove, and even when they don't, they still have a nice stripped down moogy sound that's very pleasing. Titles include "Spaced", "Salute To The Vanishing Bald Eagle", "People's Park", "Walking Green Algae Blues", and "Another Part Of Time". CD

✨✧ John SimonJourney ... LP
Warner, 1972. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
One of the few albums ever issued under the name of John Simon – an artist who's best known for his creative work in the studio for much bigger names at the time! The set's got all the wonderfully offbeat elements you'd hope for – including songs that are often quite strange, embellished by work from David Sanborn on alto, Dave Holland on bass, and Randy Brecker on trumpet. Titles include "The Real Woodstock Rag", "Poems To Eat", "Big City Traffic Jam", "Open Up Summertime", "Livin In A Land O Sunshine", and "Slim Pickins In The Kitchen Don't Make It At All".
