✨✧ BandBand ... LP
Capitol, 1969. Near Mint- Gatefold ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Maybe not the first album from the legendary Band – but a record in which the group get everything completely right all the way through – and sparkle with that special sound that continues to influence generations of music makers, and music lovers! All the great elements the group were bringing to their work with Bob Dylan are in place here – but the focus is completely different, with this warm glow that really fits the vocals of Levon Helm, and a sense of unified vision that makes it really hard to even come up with a match for the energy of the group on this album. The great John Simon adds a few special touches to the overall sound – and titles include "Rockin Chair", "Across The Great Divide", "When You Awake", "Up On Cripple Creek", "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down", "Look Out Cleveland", and "King Harvest". LP, Vinyl record album
(180 gram remasater from 2008. Cover has some wear at the bottom seam and a small light scrape in front, in great shape otherwise.)

BandLast Waltz ... LP
Warner, 1978. Very Good+ 3LP ... $69.99
One of the most iconic rock and roll shows of all time – the late 70s farewell to The Band – and quite famously, much more final concert by an esteemed band, it's actually a rock, pop, folk, blues and soul summit that features The Band as the house band. This landmark document of the event has always been one of rock's more opulent releases – with appearances by Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Dr. John, The Staples and more. Includes "The From The Last Waltz", "Up On Cripple Creek", "The Shape I'm In", "Down In South New Orleans" with Bobby Charles, "Forever Young" with Bob Dylan, "I Shall Be Released (Finale)", "Rag Mama Rag", "Further Up The Road" with Eric Clapton, "Dry Your Eyes" with Eric Clapton, "Evangeline" with Emmylou Harris, "The Weight" with The Staples and more. LP, Vinyl record album
(Burbank label pressing. Cover has light surface wear and a trace of a price sticker.)

✨✧ Matt BerryBlue Elephant (blue vinyl pressing) ... LP
Acid Jazz (UK), 2021. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
The music of Matt Berry just keeps getting better and better – to a point where he's almost creating a parallel career to his work on screen – one that's equally great, but which is completely different overall! Berry brought out a wealth of vintage keyboards for the record – pulled from his huge collection – and he mixes those with subtle work on guitar, and guest drums and percussion – all in this swirling blend of sounds that really surpasses the instrumentation of any of his previous work! The set's much more instrumental than vocal – which is maybe part of the charm – and Berry's turned out to be a hell of a musician, as well as a great producer – as he manages to make the record resonate with just the right currents of contemporary psych, but without ever overindulging in that approach. At times, his command of a variety of instruments handled just by himself in the studio seems to rival the work of Sean O'Hagan – and titles include "I Cannot Speak", "Summer Sun", "Safer Passage", "Now Disappear", "Alone", "Blues Inside Me", "Like Stone", "Forget Me", and "Invisible". ✨✧ Black SabbathParanoid ... LP
Warner, 1971. Very Good Gatefold ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Quite possibly the greatest moment of genius ever from Black Sabbath – and a genre-changing record that influenced generations! The group are at their lean, raw best here – free from any cliches at all, and working in an incredibly heady brew of fuzzy guitar, romping bass, and dark drums – all topped by the instantly recognizable screech of the young Ozzy Osborne! Guitarist Tony Iommi virtually redefines rock use of the guitar with this record alone – and the Oz follows suit with some of the creepiest vocals set to record ever. Titles include the classics "Paranoid" and "Iron Man", plus "War Pigs", "Planet Caravan", "Electric Funeral", "Hand Of Doom", and "Rat Salad". LP, Vinyl record album
(Burbank label pressing with Artisan stamp. Cover has some surface wear.)

✨✧ David BowieAladdin Sane (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Parlophone, 1973. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... $21.99 23.98
One of our favorite David Bowie albums ever! Aladdin Sane was a real turning point for Bowie – recorded on the heels of the tremendously popular Ziggy Stardust album, but really pushing the boundaries past the more straight-ahead rock and glam of that record. Instead of just sitting on his laurels, Bowie tripped out into a wilder, weirder world with this one – mixing together elements of some of the baroque arrangements of early records, with the meaner leaner sound of the 70s – populating the songs with freaks, weirdos, and odd characters that gave the whole thing a really creepy edge. The whole thing's an oft-overlooked gem that, to us, is truly one of Bowie's most magical moments – and titles include "Drive In Saturday", "Panic In Detroit", "Aladdin Sane", "Watch That Man", "The Jean Genie", "The Prettiest Star", "Time", and "Lady Grinning Soul". ✨✧ David BowieLodger (180 gram pressing) ... LP
RCA/Parlophone, 1979. New Copy Gatefold ... Just Sold Out!
The brilliant consummation of Bowie's late 70s years in Berlin – a record that showed he could take the experiments in sound he was crafting with Brian Eno, and turn them back into the kind of creepily catchy rock tunes that first made him a legend! Eno's help on the record is still quite strong – heard very well in the record's use of odd electronics and exotic themes – of a sort that Eno would later explore on his own with David Byrne. But the real charm here is pure Bowie – with an unabashed flair for a dramatic lyric, a well-chosen use of a heavier guitar, and a sense of personality and poise that makes the record one of his most unified ever! Titles include "Red Sails", "Look Back In Anger", "Repetition", "Boys Keep Swinging", "Red Money", "Yassassin", and "DJ". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Bush TetrasRhythm & Paranoia – The Best Of The Bush Tetras (180 gram 3LP set) ... LP
Wharf Cat, Late 70s/Early 80s. New Copy 3LP ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A long-overdue look at the Bush Tetras – a group who had a relatively short life span on the New York scene at the end of the 70s, but who were one of the hippest post-punk groups to record at the time! There's some modes here that remind us a fair bit of some of the best UK acts recording for Rough Trade at the time – and the presence of a strong female lead singer also might draw some comparisons to The Slits. But there's also a punky funky groove going on at times too – at a level that shows how easy it was for these guys to be scenemates of ESG – even though they're a completely different, more guitar-forward band! Whatever the case, the lack of Bush Tetras in the history books will be nicely righted with this collection – overstuffed with classics that include "Too Many Creeps", "You Taste Like The Tropics", "Punch Drunk", "Moonlite", "Color Green", "Stand Up & Fight", "Motorhead", "Snakes Crawl", "Pretty Thing", "You Don't Know Me", "Heart Attack", "Seven Years", "Ocean", and "Nails". Comes in a heavy box – and with a 46 page book of notes and images! LP, Vinyl record album

Titles include "7-11" by the Gone Allstars with Buddy Lucas on tenor, "Song In My Heart" by The Dubs, "Wait A Minute" by Jo-Ann Campbell, "Two People In The World" by Little Anthony, "That's My Desire" by The Chantels, "Maybe" by the Chantels, and "Someone To Love Me" by Ronnie Baxter. ✨✧ Creedence Clearwater RevivalLive At Woodstock ... LP
Craft, 1969. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
The complete Woodstock performance by Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1969 – brought together here as an official album for the first time ever! CCR were a very important part of that legendary rock festival, but didn't get placement on the original record in a way that lived up to their presence at the concert – a fact that's nicely corrected here, with a double-length album that brings together every song they played that night in 1969! The set features a very long jamming take on "Suzie Q" – plus "Green River", "Born On The Bayou", "Proud Mary", "Bad Moon Rising", "I Put A Spell On You", "Night Time Is The Right Time", "Keep On Chooglin", "Commotion", and "Bootleg". Fantasy, 1969. Very Good ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
It's hard to get any more classic than this for Creedence Clearwater Revival – as this legendary late 60s album is definitely the place where it all comes together! The pairing of John Fogerty's lead guitar and the scratching rhythm guitar of brother Tom really sounds wonderful here – driven on by tight bass and drums, but always with this rootsy edge that stretches from the Bay Area scene way down to the bayou! Titles include the classic "Down On The Corner" and a great version of "The Midnight Special" – plus "It Came Out Of The Sky", "Side Of The Road", "Effigy", "Don't Look Now", and "Fortunate Son". ✨✧ DevoHardcore Vol 2 ... LP
Ryko/Superior Viaduct, 1970s. Near Mint- 2LP ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Early art punk genius from Devo – the underground material from the pre-WB years – when they were still Ohio college students! Hardcore Volume 2 features 2LPs worth of 4- track recordings made in the mid 70s – darker, creepier synth punk than what you're used to from Devo – but still recognizable. These have a cruder sound than their pop years and a darker, chillier vibe that's pretty incredible. These guys are true originals and trailblazers and the formative work is well worth checking out! Volume 2 includes "Booji Boy's Funeral", "Can U Take It?", "The Rope Song", "Goo Goo Itch", an earlier version of "Be Stiff", "All Of Us", "Man From The Past", "Fountain Of Filth", "Doghouse Doghouse", "Shimmy Shake", "Working In The Coalmine", "Let's Go" and more, LP, Vinyl record album

Debbie HarryKookoo ... LP
Chrysalis, 1981. Near Mint- ... $5.99
A nice change in sound for Debbie Harry – thanks to Chic production from Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards – who really help the solo singer find a groove that's quite different than her work in Blondie! The style's a mixture of the funky club that Chic did so well, with elements that lean a bit more towards an early 80s rockish dancefloor – almost with a vibe that echoes some of the UK imports trickling over to these shores at the time, but with a definite New York vibe underneath! The setting gives Harry's vocals a great way to hit a more playful nature – that sound that was creeping in a bit in Blondie, but which some folks thought was wrong for the group – and Chris Stein is still on hand to bring in some street-sensitive riffing guitar. Titles include "Backfired", "Military Rap", "Oasis", "Surrender", "Chrome", "Jump Jump", and "The Jam Was Moving". LP, Vinyl record album

KennlischKennlisch ... LP
Le Kiosque D'Orphee/Wah Wah (Spain), 1976. New Copy (reissue)... $25.99 30.98
A wonderfully weird French album from the 70s – and like some of the other underground greats of the scene at the time, a record that feels very much out of step with the rest of the world! Kennlisch are the duo of brothers Jean-Francois and Philippe Machery – the former of whom plays guitar, while the latter handles more guitar, plus voice and lots of cool work on moog satellite too – an instrument used to bring in some really wonderful currents of sound – sometimes spacey moments, sometimes just light inflections – but all in ways that give the set a very unique flavor, and not prog, folk, or anything else we can think of. Titles include "Improvisation", "Marie", "Sensation", "Ouverture", "Kennlisch", and "Pour Maurice". LP, Vinyl record album

Ken Kesey/Grateful DeadAcid Test (pink vinyl pressing) ... LP
Jackpot, 1966. New Copy (reissue)... $20.99 29.99
A fantastic 60s happening committed to record – one of the famous "acid tests" by Ken Kesey – recorded over the span of 14 hours, and condensed to the space of a single album – featuring early work by The Grateful Dead, plus tape loops, harmonica solos, and lots of weird wordplay too! This is the kind of thing that had us scared to death of west coast hippies when we were kids – and for good reason, too – as the album really shows the depths of the mind when exposed like this – and almost has us thinking that despite any outdated aesthetics of the period, there's kind of a creepy power of magick lurking far below. ✨✧ Andrzej KorzynskiPossession ... LP
Finders Keepers (UK), 1981. New Copy ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Amazing sounds from Polish composer Andrzej Korzynski – penned for a legendary horror film from the early 80s! The movie goes way beyond typical grit and gore – with a surreal bent that's made it the stuff of much discussion over the years – and Korzynski's music definitely lives up to the spirit of the images on the screen – mixing 80s electronics with offbeat strings, odd percussion, and other compelling bits – often used in very short songs that shift often throughout the course of the album – easily making the record one of the most playful we've ever heard from Finders Keepers – yet also one of the darkest too! A few sweet keyboard melodies offset some of the spookiness in a nice way – and titles include "Helen Has Green Eyes", "Opetanie 1", "The Night The Screaming Stops", "Blue Ford B AZ6", "Heinrick's Demise", "Mark Looks In The Fridge", "What Is It", and "Closely Observed Anna". Decca/Real Gone, 1964. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A very cool little record from the 60s – even if it does try to trick you into thinking that Herman Munster and his family are making music on the set! Instead, the Munsters here are a bunch of top shelf studio musicians, working with a trio of singers – in a mix of tunes that really echo the best surf and hot rod styles of the time! Songs are plenty playful, and definitely have lots of the best monster rock elements that were big at the time – even if there's maybe a bit more sunshine in the sound than some of the other albums of this nature. Three tracks are instrumental, the rest are vocal, and titles include "Vampire Vamp", "Herman's Place", "Munster Creep", "Eerie Beach", "TV Monster Show", "Down In The Basement", "Munster Coach", and "Ride The Midnight Special". RCA (Italy), 1970. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Patty Pravo looks a bit creepy on the cover, but the images inside make her look really lovely – and the sound of the record lies somewhere in between! The album's in the territory of offbeat late 60s work by Rita Lee or Brigitte Fontaine – equally distinct, and a strong statement from a singer who could have stuck in the mainstream, but chose to explore lots of unusual territory on these tunes – a mix of modes that runs from dreamy to groovy to downright spooky – with some nice help on arrangements from Paolo Ormi. The songs include many familiar numbers, transformed in the approach – and titles include "The Day That My Love Went Away", "Per Te", "La Tua Voce", "Motherless Child", "Il Mio Fiore Nero", "Non Je Ne Regrette Rien", "Perche Sei Il Mio Uomo", and "Una Conchiglia". Radiators From SpaceTV Tube Heart (10 inch LP) ... LP
Chiswick (UK), 1977. New Copy (reissue)... $22.99 30.99
A classic debut from The Radiators From Space – a group who were contemporaries to the first wave of British punk, but who found a special raw sound that was all their own! In a way, the sound here is almost the earlier pub rock generation spun through the noisier modes allowed by punk – especially in the way the guitars are right up front in the mix, and the vocals seem to go out of their way to show off the group's accents and attitudes. At the time, folks would have drawn a firm line between this and work by the Clash or Pistols – but all these many years later, the record stands as a wonderful document of the time – and a much-needed piece of the larger punk rock puzzle. Titles include "Television Screen", "Ripped & Torn", "Roxy Girl", "Great Expectations", "Blitzin At The Ritz", "Press Gang", "Prison Bars", and "Not Too Late". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ SandalsEndless Summer – Original Soundtrack (violet vinyl pressing) ... LP
World Pacific/Real Gone, Mid 60s. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A groovy soundtrack to this hip surf film directed by Bruce Brown – filled with great little instrumentals that go way past the obvious! Brown had previously used jazz players for some of his films – including Bud Shank, who cut some great stuff for earlier soundtracks – but this set's got him working with The Sandals, a younger guitar-driven group with a cool style of scoring – partly surf instrumentals, but partly mod and groovy too! The Sandals move way past the stock surf riffs of chart surf groups – and they really do a great job with the changing moods and scenes of the film – fitting the many scenes of surfing on the screen. Titles include "Jet Black", "TR 6", "Scrambler", "6 Pak", "Driftin", "Good Greeves", and "Decoy". (Soundtracks, Rock) LP, Vinyl record album

GNP, Late 60s. Near Mint- ... $34.99
Wicked work from the great Sky Saxon – an early record that really gets at the sheer raw power of his best work! Despite the title, the album's hardly a straight set of blues – more a blend of hard rock, psychedelia, and rootsy influences – in the manner of some of the earliest work by Love, but perhaps with more of a Chicago electric approach. Saxon wrote most of the tunes – and titles include "Moth & The Flame", "I'll Help You", "Cry Wolf", "The Gardener", and "Creepin About". LP, Vinyl record album

Finders Keepers (UK), 1979. New Copy ... $14.99 26.99
Really beautiful electronics from the enigmatic Guy Skornik – an artist that we mostly know for his quirky concept record Pour Pauwels, but who sounds here like some of the best electronicians of the German scene of the 70s! All tracks are long and spun out – electronic, but with acoustic elements in the mix – maybe in a mode that's similar to the 70s soundtrack creations of Popol Vuh, Tangerine Dream, or Vangelis – but darker, too – most likely because the music was composed for an obscure film by Alexander Jodorowsky! Yet the music here hardly needs images on a screen – as Skornik's created these wonderfully evocative passages, created with some help from Steve Hillage and members of Cossi Anatz. Titles include "Elise & Tusk Reunited", "Poo Lorn 1", "Elise Liberates Tusk", "Poo Lorn 2", "Goodnight Ram Baba", "Elise On The Run", and "Crossing The River". LP, Vinyl record album

Creepy John ThomasCreepy John Thomas ... LP
RCA, 1969. Near Mint- ... $49.99
A stunning set from Aussie singer John Thomas – billed here as Creepy John Thomas, a name that was supposed to invoke older blues roots while also pitching the whole thing to the weirder, wilder, wiggier generation at the end of the 60s! In truth, there's very little blues rock here at the forefront – maybe in part because the album's an early production effort by Conny Plank – who does a great job bringing out all these odd sounds from familiar elements – so that the fuzzy guitar and heavy bass can get weird and moody at times, even when the song structure might be relatively tight. The driving force, though, is Creepy John – the kind of singer who should have been part of some supergroup at the start of the 70s – but who's maybe even better as one of rock's great under-discovered lesser-rans. Titles include "Sun & Woman", "Bring Back The Love", "Ride A Rainbow", "You've Got To Hide", "Gut Runs Great Stone", "Do I Figure In Your Life", "Moon & Eyes Song", and "Trippin Like A Dog & Rockin Like A Bitch". ✨✧ Velvet UndergroundWhite Light/White Heat (45th Anniversary 2LP on 180 gram vinyl) ... LP
Verve, 1968. New Copy 2 LP Gatefold (reissue)... Out Of Stock
One of the most far-out, freaked-out albums ever from the Velvet Underground – easily the most experimental set the group ever recorded! The album's awash in really unusual sounds and styles – from the sonic blast of the title cut "White Light/White Heat", to the 17 minute garage/psych jam of "Sister Ray" to the very odd "The Gift" – which is a creepy story about cuckolding, told with voice and instrumentation split over different stereo channels! Other tunes offset the darkness with an eerie touch of sweet – and include "Here She Comes Now", "Lady Godiva's Operation", and "I Heard Her Call My Name". Arguably one of the Velvets' most influential moments – even if it's also one of their least commercially successful! This great 2LP package features loads of sweet extra bits – including "I Heard Her Call My Name (alternate)", "Hey Mr Rain (version one)", "Temptation Inside Your Heart (original mix)", "Stephanie Says (orig mix)", "Beginning To See The Light (early version)", "Hey Mr Rain (version two)", and "Guess I'm Falling In Love (instrumental)". ✨✧ Waller Creek Boys with Janis JoplinWaller Creek Boys ... LP
Lysergic Sound, 1962. New Copy ... $19.99
Janis Joplin may be best known for her contributions to mainstream rock at the end of the 60s – but here, she's a much younger singer, working in a very cool, rootsy group from the Austin scene – a trio that features her own vocals and work on autoharp, with Waller Creek Boys Lanny Wiggins on acoustic guitar and Powell St John on harmonica – both of whom would go onto later fame in the Texas underground! The style here is nicely rootsy – folk blues, but with some original material by Janis – who's already got this incredible voice on the sessions, even though she's only 19 years old. Some of the recording quality is a bit raw, but that also maybe makes the music sound even more intense – as you'll hear on titles that include "How Long", "No Reason For Livin", "Trouble In Mind", "Daddy Daddy Daddy", "Banks Of The Ohio", "St James Infirmary", "Railroad Bill", and "Winnin Boy Blues". Crestview/Real Gone, 1963. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A classic album by one of the coolest cats to ever record a Halloween record – Philly TV figure John Zacherley, whose recorded career consists almost entirely of horror parody material! Zach's got a strong ability to emulate the kind of creepy figures in older horror films of the 30s and 40s – focusing mostly on their goofier sides, which are then used to present the album's whimsical horror-themed numbers, all set to jazzy backings by Gerald Alters! Imagine Bela Lugosi performing his different characters on a jazz vocal album, and you'll get part of the flavor of this classic – which includes the titles "Baying At The Moon", "Transylvania PTA", "Frank & Drac Are Back", "Coolest Little Monster", "Come With Me To Transylvania", and "Spider Man Lullaby". (Halloween, Rock) LP, Vinyl record album
(Limited edition of 500!)

Frank ZappaZappa In New York ... LP
DiscReet, 1977. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold ... $13.99
Frank Zappa live in the 70s – working with a surprisingly hip large ensemble, with all the sharp changes and unusual moments of his classic studio albums! Like some of Zappa's other concert performances, there's an approach that steps a few years back – clearly to please the group coming to hear their favorites, but in a way that also offers up a nice sharpening-up of the music too – especially given that the whole thing's happening live on stage! There's some great jazz help here – horns from The Brecker Brothers, Lou Marini, Ronnie Cuber, and Tom Malone – plus wonderful vibes from Dave Samuels and keyboards from Eddie Jobson – and even a bit of narration from Don Pardo. Titles include "I'm The Slime", "Titties & Beer", "Cruisin For Burgers", "The Illinois Enema Bandit", "Punky's Whips", "Big Leg Emma", and "Sofa". LP, Vinyl record album
(Censored version – without "Punky's Whips". Cover has some ring and edge wear.)

✨✧ Frank Zappa & The MothersOver-Nite Sensation ... LP
DiscReet, 1973. Very Good Gatefold ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of Frank Zappa's biggest-selling albums of the early 70s and it's also one of his best ever! Over-Nite Sensation finds Zappa's leftfield weirdness and sly social satire at play within adventurous, but accessible arrangements. It's got some early fusiony rock bits paired with heavy drums and muscular rock riffs – and it's a hell of a great sound! The songs themselves are sharp here, too. If forced to make a list of favorite Zappa songs, it'd certainly include "Camarillo Brillo", which kicks this record off – and other titles include "I'm The Slime", "Montana", "Dinah-Moe Humm", "Zomby Woof", and "Dirty Love". Features keyboards from George Duke and violin from Jean Luc Ponty – plus horns by Ian Underwood, Sal Marquez, Tom Fowler and Bruce Fowler – plus percussion by Ruth Underwood and amazing drums by Ralph Humphrey. LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has ring and edge wear, a lightly bent corner and a bit of marker.)
