There's no stopping the double-dee jay power of Clint Eastwood and General Saint – as they pair together here on a classic album that's every bit as great as their Two Bad DJ set! The mix of voices trading back and forth is wonderful, especially over the laidback rhythms of the set – bridging some early digital modes with a warmth that comes from the way the pair interact – almost more down to earth than a solo dee jay might have, as the duo have a conversational vibe that gets past occasional hyperbole in the solo format. A righteous set of lovers rock from the Love Joys – a female duo, as you might guess from the cover – but one who work here with a wonderfully deep sound! This isn't the crossover material you might hear from other artists of this nature – as there's a very tough-edged presentation to the whole thing – echoey, dubby rhythms recorded at Wackies, with some especially splashy drums next to the nodding basslines – allowing lots of space that has the vocals echoing out in space as they trade back and forth – in a way that's quite different from more familiar harmony modes. A Nigerian group, but one who work in the best roots reggae modes of previous years in Kingston – recording here with a laidback vibe that really creates a sense of intimacy that's very different than much work of this time coming out in the 90s! Vocals are traded back and forth between Blackwell Jones and Delleo Freeman – and there's a gently stepping groove to the record that never pushes too hard, nor tries for any sort of too-commercial modes.
