✨✧ Sly & RobbieTaxi Fare ... LP
Heartbeat, 1986. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Compilation of tracks produced by Sly & Robbie just as they were getting the Taxi gang started and stepping out as producers in their own right, at the dawn of the Dancehall era. The rhythm tracks are top notch, and in a lot of ways, this is our favorite period for these 2 reggae greats. The set includes both vocal and instrumental numbers, including "Triplet", "Devil Pickney", "Rock Music", "Pure & True", "Fort Augustus", "Sitting & Watching", "Baltimore", "Taxi Connection", "Bang Bang", "Red Hot", "Those Tricks", "Unmetered Taxi" and "VIA Music". ✨✧ Gregory IsaacsShowcase ... LP
Taxi (Jamaica), 1980. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
If there's anything that might make the vocals of Gregory Isaacs sound even better, it's the production by Sly & Robbie that marks this excellent release on their Taxi label – a record that's both more expansive and more down to earth than some of Isaacs' work on bigger labels – and which also has Sly & Robbie still in the headier side of the Kingston scene, very different than their growing work on contributions to more commercial projects! The tracks are all nice and long, and in addition to Sly on drums and Robbie on bass, the set features key work from Willie Lindo on guitar and Robbie Lyn on piano – crafting their sound over a lean groove that still has the righteous vocals of Gregory taking center stage. Titles include "Mistake", "Going Down Town", "Soon Forward", "You'll Never Know", "Slave Driver", and "Motherless Children". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Black UhuruShowcase ... LP
Joe Gibbs/Taxi (UK), 1979. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A great early moment from Black Uhuru – a set recorded before their famous albums for Island Records, and in this nice lean style that draws plenty from the production team of Sly & Robbie – who also add plenty to the rhythms too! The Revolutionaries give Black Uhuru a perfect vibe on the record – lean and spacious, with tracks that stretch out a lot longer than their Island material – which only seems enhance the righteous message in the music, expanded out in the moodier, dubbier space of the recording! Wonderful all the way through, and a really unified set – with cuts that include "Leaving To Zion", "General Penitentiary", "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner", "Shine Eyed Gal", 'Abortion", "Natural Reggae Beat", and "Plastic Smile". LP, Vinyl record album
