King TubbyExplosive Dub ... LP
Clocktower, 1975. New Copy (reissue)... $15.99 18.98
If you're looking for a definition of dub, this album may well be it – and it's clear proof why Tubby could proudly wear the crown of a King! The set's beautifully bassy and muddy all the way through – a heady brew of bottom-level sounds – all layered wonderfully with lots and lots of echo – light guitar, bass, and drums tripping along with a sound that's as powerful today as it was back in the 70s! All tracks are instrumentals, and this LP version features 15 tracks in all – with cuts that include "Babylon Dub", "Send Me Dub", "In Love Dub", "Perfidia Dub", and "Soundtrack Dub". ✨✧ Lee Scratch Perry & The UpsettersScratch & Company Chapter 1 (LP sleeve edition) ... CD
Clocktower/Get On Down, Mid 70s. New Copy ... $6.99 14.98
Pivotal Black Ark material from Lee Perry – with brilliantly tripped out echoey dub production – and scorching instrumentation laid down by the mighty Upsetters! Split roughly in half between Perry's nicely gritty instrumental moodcraft and hazy vocals, this collection features some uber prime Upsetters material. It's all hear – heavily rumbling bass grooves, tripped out, though spiritually resonant vocals and just enough of smoky haze without getting too thick to breathe. Amazing stuff! Includes "Scratch The Dub Organizer", "Bush Weed Corn Trash", "When Jah Come", "Curley Dub", "Serious Joke", "Who You Gonna Run To" and "Tighten Up". CD
(In a very cool Japanese-styled, LP-like cardboard sleeve cover!)

✨✧ UpsettersBlackboard Jungle Dub (jungle cover version) ... LP
Clocktower, 1973. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
You could go 'round and 'round with music historians arguing whether or not this album, or Java Java Java or Aquarius Dub was the first full length dub LP, but it makes no difference to us, this is one mighty set of Perryisms, wrought in the pre-Black Ark era. There's a dozen of the Upsetter's finest rhythms rendered in dub versions here, and though he's uncredited on the sleeve, we've read that King Tubby was responsible for the wonderful reverb and mixing console action taking these tracks to the next level. Essential! Includes "Blackboard Jungle Dub (version 1)", "Rubba, Rubba Words", "Cloak A Dagger (version 3)", "Dreamland Dub", "Fever Grass Dub", "Sinsemilla Kaya Dub", "Moving Forward", "Kasha Macka Dub" and "Setta Iration Dub". ✨✧ Horace AndyPure Ranking ... LP
Clocktower, 1979. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Horace Andy is one of the all-time greats in Jamaican music – a singer with a style that can be light yet deeply soulful at the same time – a great mixture of sweet and dark that's captured perfectly on this late 70s set! Brad Osborne cut the set with King Tubby – and the latter provided some great echo to flesh out the spare instrumental sound of the record – which is mostly just bass, drums, guitar, and organ – bubbling along in a midtempo groove that lets Andy's vocals really shine in the lead! Titles include "Pure Ranking", "I've Been Around", "What Eyes Don't See", "African Liberation", "Jah Gift To Man", "Totally Free", "Change Your Ways", "Jah Is The One", "Natural Mystic", and "Strictly Ranking". ✨✧ King TubbyDub From The Roots ... LP
Clocktower, 1975. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Wicked dub from mighty King Tubby – a set of reworked sounds from cuts by Jackie Edwards, Johnny Clarke, John Holt, Horace Andy, and others – all given some heavy-bottomed touches by Tubby! The tracks are all instrumentals, with plenty of bass bubbling in an echoey pit – mixed with organ, drums, and especially nice guitar that often glides out highest in the mix – with a slightly cleaner feel than other instrumentation. Titles include "Double Cross", "African Roots", "Iyahta", "Dub From The Roots", "Hijack The Barber", "Invasion", and "Dub Of A Woman". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Augustus PabloKing Tubbys Meets Rockers Uptown ... LP
Clocktower/Onlyroots (France), 1975. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Essential dub material from the legendary King Tubby – a set that's one of the best of the genre during the classic years – and which stands as a true testament to how great the format can be when handled right! The watchword here is simplicity – as the key elements are almost isolated in little sonic chambers, then set to resonate alongside each other – pulled from rhythms from tracks initially done as vocal productions, but reworked through the mixing talents of Erroll "ET" Thompson and Tubby. Players include Bobby Ellis on trumpet, Richard "Dirty Harry" Hall on tenor, and Augustus Pablo on organ and piano, plus a bit of clarinet. Titles include "Keep On Dubbing", "Stop Them Jah", "Young Generation Dub", "Each One Dub", "555 Dub Street", "Braces Tower Dub", "King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown", "Corner Crew Dub", "Say So", "Skanking Dub", and "Frozen Dub". LP, Vinyl record album
